A tribute to David Hockney, RIP

I felt lucky enough to view this work in the flesh in the HOTA when it was on loan from Canberra Art Gallery. It was MASSIVE! So impressive in scale, in colour and in texture. The multi canvases were incredible to see altogether.

HOTA states “internationally renowned contemporary artist, David Hockney, A Bigger Grand Canyon, is a 7.4-metre-long landscape painting consisting of 60 canvases. Painted in 1998, the large-scale piece is a vibrant and contemporary vision of America’s Grand Canyon, a portrayal of the American West from many viewpoints.”

Final chance to view Philip Trusttums canvases hanging around the interiors of Designmade.

View today till 5pm. 400 Barbadoes St.

Philip sadly passed unexpectedly earlier this year and his works will always live on to tell a tale of his daily life and how he viewed it through the playful lens of his children and grandchildren.

His canvases are fun, bright, energetic and full of life, that as Philip was.

It’s been an honour to showcase a selection of these works from the last decade of his practice in a space that works wonderfully with the interiors. The team at Designmade have really bought these works to life.
