So while I'm out of work and looking for another job I will be trying to pump out some more art and also offering rope workshops at a small cost for any one individual or couples in Christchurch that would like to learn some basic rope skills...nothing shady at all, I have a partner and she is aware of what I am doing and accepts that it is in fact another form of art so hit me up for more information and visual reference of my previous work if anyone is interested. In a nutshell this is the origin of japanese rope bondage/torture... long time ago back in the days of the ming dynasty and the edo period Japanese samurai marshals used rope to subdue and restrain offenders and prisoners. The type of bights and colour of the rope used served as a message to the people of the village about the captives social status and the crime they committed.

Further down the timeline it was then used by emperors to restrain women prisoners in various positions for their unhindered sexual gratification and also used in a number of methods of torture.

Even further down the timeline when introduced to Western culture it became more of an erotic art form known as Sh***ri or Ki***ku (translation: tightly bound) which then became more widely used in the bedrooms of consenting adults and stigmatised as "taboo" by the unapreciative population who were uneducated on its origins and the true art in which it is.
