Summer is cancelled, long live Summer ☀️ A long time since I've uploaded a mix. I'm still playing, I just haven't been recording many.

Regardless, here's a mix! Tune in for tasteful minimal, melodic, and driving techno. I was going to be playing a lot of these tracks around the North Island over Summer, but I can't, so instead here's a tease of some of the techno you may have bathed in at Kiwiburn, Shipwrecked, Splore, and more.

Hey friends. I'm happy to announce today that your tutors for Spinsational - Free DJ Workshop & Open Decks this Thursday will be myself and Paige Julia!

*Spaces are limited to twenty, so get in now to secure your spot.*

Please note this is a class aimed at beginner and hobbyist DJ's. More established DJ's may find some of the material to be fairly basic, however each in attendance will have the opportunity to receive free tutoring on both the Pioneer XDJ-RX2 controller, and a CDJ-2000NXS2 setup.

I'm going to be teaching you the basics of matching BPM, rhythms, phrasing, and the basics of song structure. Then Paige and I will be giving you an overview of the fundamentals of each of the DJ stations, followed by a practical exercise around the previous topics. At this point you will have the opportunity to practice and get some experience on this professional DJ equipment, with us there to assist you!

CHUR is a special muse. My first sets at CHUR were bass-heavy, stompy, and hectic. But over time I've found myself drawn away from playing bass music, instead leaning into a base of techno, house, and breaks.

So imagining a set for CHURBURN '21 was quite a fun challenge, as I still wished to bring the frothy, bass-heavy, cacophonous experience I've bought and been praised for in the past, but while leaning in to my current music tastes.

This is how this set was born. It is comprised of minimal, melodic, and driving techno, tech house, bassy and funky breaks, a touch of garage, and 'other'.

Arrrr me mateys! Sometimes your top, favourite performances of the season are the ones you least expect... this was definitely one of those! I expected to rock to The Janky Mermaid Shipwrecked Festival NZ for a 4:30am, lush dawn Orgánica set on Saturday/Sunday morning. Little did I realise that I would discover the last party of the festival, tucked away in the most brilliant little boiler room on a boat!

So we did exactly what as expected of us, we went hard and fast to minimal techno, breakbeats and disco, and danced our hearts out into the rising dawn! Sweat poured, the boat rocked, voices cheered and whooped 🤸 I'll never forget this morning, thank you all who were there ❤
