This July, Convergence Dance Studios & NZ Youth Ballet Co. invite you on a breathtaking journey through Hansel & Gretel: The Enchanted Forest.

Follow Hansel and Gretel as they leave home in search of food and venture deep into a mysterious forest where playful birds, enchanting spirits, shadowy magic, and a dazzling candy kingdom await.

Featuring a beautiful blend of dance, storytelling, contemporary movement, ballet, and musical theatre, this full-cast production brings a beloved fairytale to life through the talents of our youngest performers, senior students, NZYBC dancers, and emerging choreographers.

From joyful village life and magical forest encounters to sugar spirits, witches, and the journey home, Hansel & Gretel: The Enchanted Forest is a heartwarming adventure for audiences of all ages.

The boys were put to the test last week!

BOSU balls might look like fun (and they are 😅), but they’re also one of the best tools for developing balance, stability, coordination and strength.

Every wobble is feedback.

Every adjustment builds body awareness.

Every challenge helps create stronger, more confident movers.

In our Boys Programme, we don’t just teach dance.

We develop athleticism, resilience, coordination and confidence through a combination of ballet, strength work and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

And judging by the smiles, the challenge was accepted. 💪🔥

The future of dance training in New Zealand is evolving.

Applications are now open for the 2027 NZ Youth Ballet Company Full-Time Training Programme, and with them comes the beginning of a new chapter for NZYBC.

Over the coming months, we will be announcing a series of opportunities that have never before been offered within our programme. These developments represent a significant step forward in the pathways available to our students and reflect our commitment to providing world-class training and opportunities from right here in New Zealand.

One of the greatest opportunities for young dancers is the chance to learn from world-class teachers and training environments.

Watching the classes of Luca Masala and experiencing the incredible teaching throughout the Raise the Barre Dance Festival was a reminder that excellence is built in the details.

The discipline.

The artistry.

The commitment to continual improvement.

Sometimes the most valuable learning happens not when we are dancing, but when we are watching those around us, listening, and absorbing the knowledge around us.

A huge congratulations to Ava, who was awarded both the Princess Grace Academy and Legacy Master of Ballet Summer Intensive Awards following the workshop.

A wonderful recognition of her hard work, dedication, and potential.
