A Grantee Story:

Inspire grantee Hamish Giddens was heading home from the Royal Ballet School - freshly cleared from a concussion - when a classmate got injured minutes before that night's show at the Linbury Theatre. Could Hamish step into his role? In a contemporary piece he'd never even seen?

He got a 10-minute run-through at 6:50pm, ran from the school to the theatre, and nailed it.

"Any chance to get on stage is my favourite thing."

That's the end of his first year at one of the world's great ballet schools - with the Royal Opera House still to come.

We love hearing these inspiring stories, showing the depth of talent these grantees have.

EVENING OF DANCE ✨

What a beautiful evening celebrating dance, performance and our wonderful Christchurch dance community.

We are so proud of this gorgeous group who took to the stage and represented CDS with confidence, professionalism and so much joy.

A very special thank you to Isabella D’Accione for her stunning choreography of Creep. Your creativity and artistry continue to challenge and inspire our dancers, and it was so special to see this work come alive again on stage. 🖤

Every opportunity to perform is an opportunity to grow, to build confidence, gain valuable stage experience and share the work that happens inside the studio with an audience.

A huge thank you to Christchurch Ballet Society for putting on Evening of Dance and continuing to create these valuable performance opportunities for young dancers across our community. We are so grateful for everything that goes into making evenings like this possible.

🚨 ASCEND FAMILIES: WE STILL NEED YOUR MEASUREMENTS! 🚨

Something pretty special is happening behind the scenes for ASCEND – A New Era…

Our costumes aren’t simply being ordered off the rack.

They are being designed and handmade specifically for this production, with the opportunity for each costume to be created using your child’s individual measurements.

And we STILL have measurements missing!

We would genuinely hate to have to estimate your child’s sizing when there is such an incredible opportunity to have a costume made to their measurements.

Accuracy is really important when taking measurements. Please have your child wear fitted clothing, ideally a leotard or close-fitting dancewear, so measurements can be taken as accurately as possible. Please avoid measuring over loose or bulky clothing.

Our costume team needs to get creating, so if you haven’t completed your form yet, please do it ASAP.

It takes just a few minutes and could make a huge difference to how your child’s finished costume looks and fits on stage.

ASCEND is going to be something special, and the costumes are a huge part of bringing this vision to life. ⚡️

Please check that you’ve submitted your child’s accurate measurements TODAY!
