The Canterbury Inferno are back on home ice this weekend as they take on the Auckland Steel in what promises to be an action-packed weekend of NZWIHL hockey! 🏒💥

Expect speed, skill, big moments, and plenty of excitement as two of New Zealand’s top women’s hockey teams battle it out at Alpine Ice.

We’re saying a bittersweet goodbye to Lorraine this week as she steps back from her full-time role with the Alpine team 🩵

Lorraine has been such a valued part of our team, our event and birthday organiser extraordinaire, a friendly face around the rink, and an all-round superstar! She brings a smile to everything she does, and her positive energy will definitely be missed.

The good news is Lorraine won’t be too far away! She’ll still be around the rink playing hockey, and supporting family and friends who also play. You’ll still spot Lorraine behind the till from time to time, which we’re very grateful for!

We wish Lorraine all the best as she focuses on her studies and the next steps in her career, thank you for everything you’ve done for Alpine. We’re so lucky you’ll still be part of our rink family🫶

We’ve also said a temporary goodbye to Katie this week as she begins her maternity leave 🧸

We can’t wait to see Katie back at the rink in a few months’ time once she’s had some precious time with the new addition to her family. Wishing you all the best for this exciting new chapter, Katie! 🩵

Our holiday programme is the perfect place for young skaters (ages 4–14) to step onto the ice and discover the exciting world of skating 🩵

Through fun, circuit-style lessons, children build confidence, balance, coordination and essential skating skills in a supportive environment led by qualified coaches.

Top-level figure skating comes to Alpine Ice this weekend!

We’re proud to host the Clucas Cup — one of New Zealand’s key figure skating selection events 🇳🇿⛸️

Named in honour of Wendy Clucas and her contribution to the sport, this competition brings together talented skaters from across the country as they chase selection scores, improve rankings, and work towards international opportunities.

Come along and watch the incredible skating programmes and performances!

Join us this Sunday 7 June for The Winter Whirl Figure Skating Competition and watch local skaters take to the ice for a fantastic morning of skating ⛸️

✨ Learn to Skate entrants: from 10.30am�✨ Advanced programs: through until 1.30pm

Our newest skaters will kick off the competition, followed by performances from our more advanced figure skaters showcasing their skills, artistry, and hard work on the ice.
