Introducing Galia Amsel — now presented by DMC Art.

Auckland based, London-born, Royal College of Art-trained, and internationally known for cast-glass sculpture, Galia’s work looks to Aotearoa’s native birds for its form: kōtuku, kakī, and pāteke, captured mid-movement in glass — hand-drawn stringers, hand-smoothed and polished.

The kōtuku, or white heron, is one of the most striking birds in Aotearoa — rare, and long regarded as a special sight. The kakī, or black stilt, is one of the rarest wading birds in the world, found only here. 10% of every bird sculpture sold goes to Bird Care Aotearoa, supporting the care of sick, injured, and orphaned native birds.

We’re proud to bring her work to New Zealand collectors. Full catalogue — link in bio.

Team 25 — The Haka is secured! 🖤

On behalf of Lilly Cooper and Frank Van Schaijik, who’ve led this campaign with me, thank you.

Because of the families, individuals and businesses who joined Team 25, Philip Trusttum’s iconic The Haka now has a permanent home at One NZ Stadium, Ōtautahi Christchurch — for everyone.

It will be installed before Christmas, in memory of the late, great Philip Trusttum. Swipe through to see the artwork, the man himself at work on it, and the wonderful supporters who made this possible.

We can only achieve greatness together. Thank you, Team 25. A little bit of Dolly in her memory, I’m sure Philip would approve!

Off with Anna to in Venice. Relaxed first day exploring Bologna Italy’s wine and food capital. Plus, I made it to the Natural History section of the Palazzo Poggi Museum in the University Quarter. Sculpted specimens presented beautifully in cases with painted shaped back boards. Lovely to see the artists recognised who performed an important role making the specimens for teaching medical students.
