My kids have been asking for a dot cake for ages, but I never really got the hype because it's basically a cake covered in sprinkles.
Then I saw Marion's Kitchen savoury version and knew I had to try it. With all the World Cup fever around, I gave it a football design too... which looked much better in my head than in real lol.

Here's how I made it 👇🏻

For the rice:

1 cup sushi rice or Calrose rice
1¼ cups water

Wash the rice a few times until the water runs mostly clear. Add to a pot with the water, bring to a boil, then cover and cook on low heat for 12–15 minutes. Turn off the heat and let it rest for 10 minutes.

Mix in:

2 tbsp rice vinegar

½ tsp salt

Let it cool slightly.

Spicy Tuna Mix:

1 tin tuna, drained

2 tbsp mayonnaise

1 tbsp sriracha

A handful of chopped scallions

Mix everything together.

Avocado Mash:

2 ripe avocados

Salt and pepper, to taste

A squeeze of lemon juice

Mash until creamy.

You'll also need:

Cream cheese

Crushed seaweed

Black sesame seeds

White sesame seeds

Layer the rice, spicy tuna, and avocado mash as shown in the video. Spread a thin layer of cream cheese on top, then cover with crushed seaweed. Use the black and white sesame seeds to create a football pattern. Slice and serve.

Tried the viral football cookie with the kids over the weekend. It was such a fun little activity to do together, and they turned out so good.

I’d definitely recommend trying these, especially if you have football fans at home. You can make them large like I did or go for smaller ones if you prefer.

Here’s the recipe 👇

FOOTBALL COOKIES

Ingredients: • 100g butter
• ½ cup powdered sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 tsp vanilla
• ¼ tsp baking soda
• ¼ tsp baking powder
• 1½ cups flour
• 1 tbsp cocoa powder

Method:

1. Cream the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.

2. Add the egg and vanilla and mix well.

3. Add the flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix until a soft dough forms.

4. Divide the dough into two parts and mix cocoa powder into one part.

5. Shape into football designs using both plain and cocoa dough.

6. Chill for 20–30 minutes.

7. Bake at 180°C for 10–12 minutes.

Who's making these before the next match? 👀

I combined two comfort foods into one bowl. Can you guess them? 👀🍜🌶️

Stop ordering butter chicken… this homemade version hits different 🤍

Rich, creamy, and full of flavour, this one is pure comfort in every bite, especially with soft naan!

I start by marinating the chicken, then grill it until slightly charred for that smoky depth. The gravy is made separately with onions, tomatoes, and cashews blended into a silky smooth base. Everything comes together into a restaurant-style curry that tastes even better at home.

Recipe:

Ingredients

For the Chicken Marinade:

500g boneless chicken thighs

2 tbsp Greek yogurt

1 tbsp tandoori spice mix or: ½ tsp red chilli powder, ½ tsp cumin, ¼ tsp turmeric, ¼ tsp garam masala, ¼ tsp coriander powder, pinch of black salt or chaat masala (optional)

Salt to taste

For the Gravy:

3 medium onions, sliced

2 tbsp butter

⅓ cup oil

1 tbsp ginger garlic paste

2 tbsp tomato paste

3 tomatoes, halved

¼ cup cashew nuts

Spices:

Red chilli powder – to taste

½ tsp garam masala

½ tsp cumin powder

½ tsp coriander powder (optional)

1 tsp sugar

Salt – to taste

To Finish:

Butter

Fresh cream

Crushed kasuri methi

Method

Marinate chicken with yogurt, spices, and salt. Rest for 1 hour or overnight.

Grill the chicken until cooked and slightly charred. Set aside.

Sauté onions in oil and butter until golden. Add ginger garlic paste and cook off the raw smell.

Add tomato paste, cashews, spices, sugar, and halved tomatoes. Pour 1 cup water.

Cook until soft, then discard tomato skins and blend into a smooth gravy.

Return to pan, add grilled chicken and a little butter. Simmer for a few minutes.

Finish with cream and kasuri methi. Serve hot with naan or rice.

- 2 ripe mangoes
- 1 bottle (12 ounces) nata de coco, drained well
- 1 cup sago seeds, cooked and drained well
- 1 cup all-purpose cream
- 1 cup condensed milk

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Mangoes:
- Peel and dice the ripe Manila mangoes. Set aside a few mango cubes for garnish.

2. Combine Ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced mangoes, drained nata de coco, and cooked sago seeds.

3. Add Cream and Condensed Milk:
- Pour in the all-purpose cream and condensed milk into the bowl with the mango mixture.

4. Mix Thoroughly:
- Gently stir the ingredients until they are well combined. Make sure the cream and condensed milk evenly coat the fruits and sago.

Feel free to adjust the sweetness by adding more condensed milk if desired. Enjoy your homemade Mango Bango!
