My kids have been asking for a dot cake for ages, but I never really got the hype because it's basically a cake covered in sprinkles.
Then I saw Marion's Kitchen savoury version and knew I had to try it. With all the World Cup fever around, I gave it a football design too... which looked much better in my head than in real lol.
Here's how I made it 👇🏻
For the rice:
1 cup sushi rice or Calrose rice
1¼ cups water
Wash the rice a few times until the water runs mostly clear. Add to a pot with the water, bring to a boil, then cover and cook on low heat for 12–15 minutes. Turn off the heat and let it rest for 10 minutes.
Mix in:
2 tbsp rice vinegar
½ tsp salt
Let it cool slightly.
Spicy Tuna Mix:
1 tin tuna, drained
2 tbsp mayonnaise
1 tbsp sriracha
A handful of chopped scallions
Mix everything together.
Avocado Mash:
2 ripe avocados
Salt and pepper, to taste
A squeeze of lemon juice
Mash until creamy.
You'll also need:
Cream cheese
Crushed seaweed
Black sesame seeds
White sesame seeds
Layer the rice, spicy tuna, and avocado mash as shown in the video. Spread a thin layer of cream cheese on top, then cover with crushed seaweed. Use the black and white sesame seeds to create a football pattern. Slice and serve.
