TAKE OFF WITH MUSIC - TERM 4
Babies (0-1 year)
A joyful first step into the world of music!

Our baby music sessions are about so much more than singing. They’re a special opportunity to connect, learn, laugh and grow together in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Through gentle songs, rhymes, movement, sensory play and musical activities, you’ll discover fun ways to support your baby’s communication, listening, physical and social development, all while strengthening that precious bond between you and your little one.

And don’t worry if your baby sleeps through some (or even all!) of the session. You’ll still learn plenty of songs, rhymes and activities to take home
enjoy together when the time is right.

Come as you are, enjoy making music together, and give your baby a wonderful start with music.

Thanks to the generosity of a wonderful CSM donor, junior classes at Ara Tū Whakatā Gilberthorpe, Te Māhuri Mānuka, Hornby and South Hornby Te Manu Tukutuku schools are enjoying FREE weekly music sessions.

With only 4 days to go till the Spring Soiree this Saturday, our wonderful musicians have been putting in the practice.
A rehearsal last Saturday afternoon and many of the musicians playing in Sunday afternoon's- 'Spring into Music' with Music Canterbury at the Great Hall, they are counting the sleeps till they can perform for you.
70x musicians will delight you, across several ensembles, great company, drinks and nibbles-what more could you want to kick off your Saturday evening? The soiree will feature the Christchurch Concert Band, the Saxophone and Clarinet Ensembles, the Christchurch Recorder Ensemble, Windjammers and WIndpower, the Rock Bands, the Jazz Combo and Stringendo

We hope all our musician's favourite people can get along, and we are excited that some friends we've yet to meet might be joining us too.
It's a big thing to put in the hours and gear yourself up for a 'live concert' but once the nerves have abated, there's nothing as thrilling as playing to a crowd!

CSM is thrilled to be involved in Music Canterbury-Christchurch Civic Music Council 'Spring into Music' Concert at The Great Hall, the Arts Centre on this Sunday 13th.
This is a free community concert which will fill the Great Hall with magnificent music throughout the day.

Surely you've heard the excited whispers? We are embarking on our journey to make the dream of a permanent home for CSM come true, and it begins right here, with your help.

Every musician has a story. We’d love to be part of yours.
To celebrate the vibrant musical heart of Ōtautahi, the Christchurch School of Music I Te Kura Puoro has partnered with acclaimed portrait photographer Juliette Capaldi of Etta Images to launch Love & music, a luxury, hardback coffee table book capturing our region's local musicians and their instruments.
As we begin to build momentum towards our home for CSM, we invite our entire community to be part of this next big chapter!

Whether you are a beginner taking your first lessons, a CSM alumnus, a seasoned vocalist, a musical family, or part of a local band, you belong on these pages.
How to get involved:
• Book your sitting for just $65: 100% of your sitting fee is donated directly to CSM’s building campaign.
• Step into the studio: Enjoy a fun, relaxed portrait session with Juliette Capaldi of Etta Images in her Christchurch studio.
• Be featured in history: Your flagship portrait will be included in the final hardback publication for you to purchase for yourself or someone who'd love to keep it.
Once we reach our goal of featured musicians, the finished book will be published for purchase with a further $10 from every book sold donated back to the CSM building fund!
Sessions are strictly limited. Help us fill these pages with the faces, instruments, and stories of Ōtautahi.
