Talofa Lava! PSA Ngāi Whetū is back to reintroduce our Co-founders/Team members. Tatou o! 🌺

My name is Josephine Mavaega I am of Samoan descent. My villages are Ulutogia, Vailu'utai, Vaovai and Manono. I was born and raised in the beautiful Otautahi by a loud and loving family.

My current food obsession is lu sipi pie YUM!
I am passionate about continuing the stories of our cultures to empower our communities and ourselves. Discovering stories, creating work, and creating opportunities to share.
With Ngāi Whetū we can use this platform to explore, express, and share unapologetically.

I'm ready to play! 🎭

Kia ora e te iwi, nei koa ko ngā Tumu whakarae me ngā kaimahi o te whānau o Ngāi Whetū

Kia ora my name is Tomairangi, No Te Arawa me Te Rarawa Au, I am a Māori creative artist originally born in Rotorua but I grew up in both Kirikiriroa and Rotorua.

My Māmā Awatea Paterson created the Taaniko pattern behind these headshots (which is also posted separately as the Ngāi Whetū cover photo here on fb) as well as helped us name our company and my uncle Waiariki Paterson designed our logo for Ngāi Whetū. Tēnā kōrua 🫶🏽

My favourite Kai Māori is my mums fried bread and favourite drink is Blue V (ki te mōhio, ka mōhio)😉

I am passionate about Ngāi Whetū because I love creating and surrounding myself with like minded people who share similar interests and I am VERY passionate about and excited for the future of all indigenous arts! Just like Karl I am also fascinated and intrigued by the cross overs between all indigenous worlds and I can’t wait to create!

Lets do the mahi ✨

Kamusta mga kapamilya, Ngāi Whetū ay nagbabalik para muling ipakilala ang aming mga miyembro 🎭

Kia ora my name is Karl Omotoy, I’m a Filipino creative artist born and raised in the Philippines but I moved to Aotearoa in 2014.

My favourite drink at the moment is a good iced coffee and favourite traditional food is Kare-Kare (peanut butter curry)

Growing up I have always loved indigenous art as I think it says a lot about the history of that culture and I’m very passionate about finding where all of our legends and beliefs connect, which is why I’m excited to help Ngāi Whetū be that platform so other creative artists whether they be indigenous or not can learn more about our legends or even find connections themselves to other cultures legends and beliefs.

SLAY QUEEN DIVA! I’m so excited to start creating
