It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Craig Broomhall.
Ruapuna Speedway would not be what it is today without Craig, his vision, his passion and the countless hours he put in behind the scenes as a member of our committee, our social media and promotions team and as an integral part of our announcing team.
Craig loved Ruapuna Speedway. He loved the sport, our spectators, our volunteers and most of all, creating an experience that brought families through the gates and gave them a great show to enjoy.
He was always looking for ways to make Ruapuna better and put on a great show for every driver and spectator. From helping bring the vision of SpeedWeek to life, to being instrumental in the introduction of Methanol Madness and adding to the magic and atmosphere of Carnival Night, bringing the idea of Victory Lane to life with sparklers and celebrations for every winner. Craig played a part in so many of the improvements, events and ideas that have helped shape our Speedway into what it is today.
His passion, creativity, vision and unmistakable voice became such an important part of Ruapuna Speedway and his contribution will never be forgotten.
Craig leaves behind an incredible legacy at Ruapuna Speedway. His voice will always be a part of our track and his impact will continue to be felt for years to come.
Craig’s memorial service will be held at the Ruapuna Speedway Clubrooms this Saturday, August 29, at 1pm. The dress code is tidy casual, and we invite everyone to join us as we come together to celebrate Craig’s life.
For those unable to attend in person, the livestream is available at www.rjptv.co.nz/videos/51429
Please note you will need an account with RJPTV to watch, but there is no cost.
Thank you for everything, Craig. You will be deeply missed. Our thoughts are with Craig’s family, friends and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
