Deutsch in Christchurch

Hi everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to address some recent developments that have raised concerns within our community.

Today, our page received a notification indicating that my post regarding the Society status violated Facebook's rules. After looking into it, I discovered that this was linked to an attempt aimed at gaining access to this account. This incident is particularly troubling, especially considering the ongoing issues we have faced with unauthorized access to information, including fraudulently access to IRD and the Society’s Registry. Additionally, we have had a former committee member access our hard drive and altered a document, along with unauthorized downloads of files related to Deutsch in Christchurch which I believe are being used outside of the Society.

I also highlight that the “Deutsch In Christchurch Community” page is not under my control and is not linked to the Society. Any posts on this is not authorized by myself or Deutsch In Christchurch Inc Society. I have been removed as a member of this page to avoid me from posting.

I want to again clarify that there has not been an Annual General Meeting (AGM) or any changes to our committee. Any claims suggesting otherwise are simply not true. It’s disheartening to see misinformation circulating. I’m surprised by the actions of a few individuals, but the truth will come out and this will only reflect on them and their family with the morals they hold.

The information being shared is not accurate, which can lead to misunderstandings and attempts to gain control over resources. Rest assured, I have procedures in place as I work through these challenges.

To provide clarity, I have sent a detailed 34-page document for members of our community involved in this illegal movement to read. It outlines what had happened and presented evidence, however this group of friends decided to ignore the truth. Unfortunately, the main person involved requested an apology, as it seems the document includes some truths they were uncomfortable with, truths that could point to some dishonesty and shortcomings.

Out of curtesy I’ve asked my solicitor to review the document and make necessary redactions based on that individual’s concerns. I aim to share this redacted file soon, as I understand it can be confusing without all the facts and let individuals come to their own conclusion.

I appreciate your support for our culture and any organization that represents it honestly. However, please note that Deutsch in Christchurch Inc. Society is not currently an active society, so I encourage everyone to be cautious with any interactions at this time and share this message to anyone you know.

Dear Deutsch in Christchurch Community,

I would like to inform you that the Deutsch in Christchurch Inc. Society has not appointed a new committee!

Over the past year, the society has faced internal significant challenges that have rendered it incapacitated.

Currently, there are allegations of illegal activity involving the Incorporated Societies Register and the IRD concerning Deutsch in Christchurch Inc. Society, which are under investigation. Additionally, individuals claiming to be new committee members are misrepresenting their positions; they are former members of the society.

While I encourage the promotion of German groups, I cannot support the broadcasting of false information or the unauthorized use of the incorporated society Deutsch in Christchurch name or logo, as this constitutes illegal activity and carries potential penalties.

I urge you not to make any payments to any organization claiming to be Deutsch in Christchurch at this time. I have instructed the bank to freeze the society’s account and procedures have been implemented with the bank as I work through these matters.

Furthermore, I want to clarify that any new page or social media account claiming to represent the Deutsch in Christchurch Society is not authorized or has any affiliation with us,unless I have communicated that directly. Please exercise caution and verify any information before engaging with such platforms.

I acknowledge the strong desire to reintegrate German culture into the community. However, this situation could have been avoided if not for the actions of a few individuals. I am aware that my reputation is being undermined, as I am being unjustly attributed as the cause of these issues. It is disappointing to witness slanderous comments being made to deflect attention from the true reasons behind this situation.

Hallo liebe Eltern und Kinder, die sich für unsere Spiel- und Schulgruppe interessieren.
In Term 4 können wir leider keine Schul- oder Spielgruppe anbieten da wir eine Umstrukturierung durchführen, dazu gehört auch die Suche nach der nötigen Lehrkraft . Wir arbeiten mit Hochdruck an einer Lösung, denn wir wissen durch euer Feedback, dass ihr und eure Kids immer sehr gern zur Spiel- bzw. Schulgruppe gekommen seid. Uns liegt viel daran, auch in Zukunft die deutsche Sprache zu fördern und Kulturveranstaltungen anzubieten.
Wir hoffen, ihr habt dafür Verständnis und würden euch gern im neuen Jahr nach den Sommerferien mit einem neuen Angebot begrüßen. Bitte meldet Euch bei uns, solltet Ihr Fragen, Vorschläge oder Anregungen haben.

Brahms German Requiem

Christchurch City Choir returns to the Christchurch Town Hall to perform Brahms’ magnificent German Requiem, Ein deutsches Requiem.

Experience the power and beauty of one of the greatest choral works of all time at the Christchurch town Hall on August 19, 2023, at 7:30 pm. The Christchurch City Choir with City Choir Dunedin and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra are proud to present Brahms' German Requiem, a masterpiece that has stood the test of time.

This emotional and uplifting work, composed by Johannes Brahms in the mid-1800s, is a moving tribute to the departed and a source of solace for the living. With its soaring melodies, rich harmonies, and poignant lyrics, the German Requiem is an unforgettable musical journey that will stir your soul and leave you with a sense of hope and renewal.

Hallo liebe Eltern,

wir hoffen, es geht euch und euren Kids gut und ihr habt eine schöne Ferienzeit. Wir haben ein paar Neuigkeiten bezüglich der Schul- und Spielgruppe für den nächsten Term und wollen sie gerne mit euch teilen.

Wegen mangelnder Teilnahme und weil viele Familien in Deutschland sind, wird die Schulgruppe im Term 3 leider nicht stattfinden. Wir werden diese Zeit nutzen, um Verbesserungen auszuarbeiten, damit wir in Term 4 einen tollen Schulunterricht anbieten können.

Die Spielgruppe wird im Term 3 jeden Mittwoch im Phillipstown Community Hub (39 Nursery Road) von 16.00 - 17.00 Uhr unter der Leitung von Katharina Halkhoree stattfinden. Katharina ist neuer Education Officer von "Deutsch in Christchurch" und gelernte Erzieherin. Sie hat ein vielfältiges Angebot erstellt, das euren Kindern (auch unterschiedlichen Alters) Spaß machen wird.

Nachfolgend möchten wir euch schon mal einen groben Überblick über die einzelnen Themengebiete des kommenden Terms geben, der unter dem Gesamtthema “Winter” stehen wird.

- Basteln mit Tannenzapfen - Thema: Vögel im Winter
- Backen von leckeren Bratäpfeln
- Salzmalerei zum Thema: Schnee/Eis
- Geschichte über einen kleinen Pinguin
- Winter Experimente “Let it snow”

- Kuscheltier-Picknick mit selbstgemachten Waffeln
- Malen mit Naturmaterialien
- Spiele Nachmittag - bring dein Lieblingsspiel mit

Wir bitten euch, euch für die Spielgruppe hier über das Anmeldeformular unten zu registrieren.

Andrea, die bisher die Spielgruppe geleitet hat, möchten wir ein großes Dankeschön für Ihre bisherige Arbeit aussprechen. Sie wird im Term 3 einige Zeit in Deutschland verbringen, aber uns zum Glück als Spielgruppen-Teilnehmerin erhalten bleiben.

Liebe DC-Member,
Liebe Teilnehmer der Spiel- und Schulgruppe,

Die Schulferien haben begonnen. Da Term 3 immer näher rückt und wir festgestellt haben, dass viele Familien nach Deutschland gehen, um den Sommer zu genießen, würden wir uns sehr über euer Feedback freuen, wer Interesse hat, an der Schulgruppe und/oder Spielgruppe im nächsten Term (17. Juli – 22. September) teilzunehmen.

Derzeitige vorgeschlagene Zeiten:
Spielgruppe: Mittwoch 4-5pm.
Schulgruppe: 5:15pm- 6:15pm.
Wo: Phillipstown Community Hub.

Die Kostenstruktur werden wir erarbeiten, wenn wir die ungefähre Anzahl an Interessenten wissen.

Bitte gebt in eurer Antwort Anzahl und Alter der Kinder an, ebenso an welcher Gruppe Interesse besteht.

Hallo,
die Deutsche Botschaft hat uns über eine fantastische Möglichkeit informiert: Das Internationale Parlamentsstipendium (IPS) des Deutschen Bundestags steht wieder an, und für das Jahr 2024 werden Plätze vergeben.
Das ist eure Chance, für ganze fünf Monate hautnah in die parlamentarische Arbeit einzutauchen und ein dreimonatiges Praktikum in einem Abgeordnetenbüro zu absolvieren.
Das Programm startet am 1. März und endet am 31. Juli 2024.
