This one sold at the Waipā Creative Trail but it needs a place on the grid ☺️ I made it one day after reading the news and getting very angry. Let’s face it there’s a lot to be cross about right now.

This one sold to a lovely friend ☺️ it is part of a series I’ve been stitching for years. All based on the opening line from one of my favourite novels “Mrs Dalloway said that she would buy the flowers herself.” Not sure what Virginia Woolf would make of the tattoos, I like to think she’d have raised a wry eyebrow rather than disapprove.

This wee set of ogham trees are exploring the Welsh expression for going home ‘dod yn ôl at fy nghoed’ / ‘to return to my trees’. I see these trees silhouetted against the sky, looking like specimens in a field guide as I drive around Waikato. I consider them my trees even though both of us are quite far from where we originated. They are on their way to Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland to be a part of a group textiles exhibition at new artist led space Cocker & Sons opening is on Friday (more details to follow)

Well that was quite the weekend! 🥂Thank you so much to for organising such a fabulous event, thanks to my lovely roomies .dowman.ngapo_art .martin.art & for organising us all. Thanks to for the lovely venue under the trees. Thanks to my husband for help setting up, packing down & being patient with me when I lost the plot yesterday 😂
And finally thank you to all of the lovely people who took the time to look, and be interested in what I’m doing, share observations & stories & and sometimes buy things too (which is always nice!) Thank you! I’m going to have a quiet few days of processing what it all means 💕

Gosh yesterday was a lot for a wee introvert like me! Had lots of really great conversations with lots of lovely visitors & sold work too which is always nice. It was then straight to high school ball prep with my youngest & photographs & waiting for them to arrive in their fancy cars to walk the red carpet. Suffice to say that after all of it I was fit for nothing except a darkened room! Felt a lot like this tbh. But fuelled by tea I hope to still have a voice and be able to form cogent sentences today again at stop 7 on the Waipā creative trail.

Uncharacteristically I seem to have things somewhat organised for the this weekend. Unless I’ve forgotten something vital, which is possible 🤷‍♀️ There’s going to be a lot of peopling this next few days, so today I’m going to do a lot of sitting quietly in the sun stitching.
Hoping I don’t come across as unhinged as I feel 😬😂 Reminding myself that people expect creative people to be a bit odd right?! Anyway keep your fingers crossed for fine weather
