It took a couple of years but we got there in the end, still waiting on the lights, but the shade, new toilet and colour are a welcome addition.

Blenheim Skate Park has been given a splash of colour and some respite from the Marlborough sun with the addition of two shade umbrellas and a mural.

The vibrant upgrade comes following a successful submission by local group Skate Marlborough to Council’s Long Term Plan 2024-34.

Funding was granted from Council’s Land Subdivision Reserve, including $8000 for murals, and $24,000 for shade.

Parks and Open Spaces Officer Robert Hutchinson said the group wanted to make the space safer and more inviting for users, and had further plans to add further lighting to the space.

Fantastic day for the Picton Skatejam with an array of skateboarders, scooters, bikers, and rollerskaters hitting the park in the sun for some early summer fun.
Noone walked away empty handed with plenty of prizes and giveaways thanks to our tremendous sponsors Cheapskates Nelson and as well as snack packs for all registered competitiors.

Shoutouts to Blenheim Lions Club and the Marlborough Youth Council for their support and also to for making such epic new additions to the Picton Skatepark
