Who’s ready to channel their inner rock star?

Last year’s Fancy Dress winner absolutely nailed it as Cyndi Lauper! This year, we’re doing it all again, so it’s time to start planning your outfit.

The theme is Pop & Rock ‘n’ Roll Icons, so whether you’re thinking Freddie Mercury, Tina Turner, David Bowie, Dolly Parton, Elvis, Joan Jett, AC/DC, Madonna, or any other legendary music icon, we can’t wait to see what you come up with.

There are prizes for Best Dressed, so don’t hold back!

Join us at Rock the Winter Blues on Saturday 25 July, from 2:00 pm in Blackball, for an afternoon of music, laughs, great costumes, and plenty of fun—all while raising money for the Blackball Emergency Services Hub.

Nick will be putting your music knowledge to the test at the Rolling Rock Quiz as part of Rock the Winter Blues on Saturday 25 July.

• Music-themed quiz
• Teams of up to 4
• $5 per team

Register at the Blackball Inn from 1:30pm, with the first round starting at 2:00pm.

The quiz rolls through:
• The Blackball Inn
• Blackball Workingmen's Club & MSA
• Formerly The Blackball Hilton

There are prizes for each round, an overall winning team, and Best Dressed.

Dress as your favourite rock star, gather your team, and join us for an afternoon of music, laughs, and friendly competition, all while helping raise funds for the Blackball Emergency Services Hub.

Our final band announcement for Rock the Winter Blues is here!

We're excited to welcome Christchurch rock covers band The Deadlights to Blackball on Saturday 25th July as the final act of a fantastic day featuring three live bands.

Playing everything from timeless rock classics to crowd favourites spanning generations, The Deadlights know how to put on a show. Fronted by a powerhouse vocalist whose voice is far bigger than her stature, and backed by a seriously tight band, they are a polished rock machine guaranteed to finish the night on a high.

The Deadlights will take the stage at the Blackball Hilton from 7:30 pm, straight after the final round of the quiz at 7:00 pm.

Rock the Winter Blues is all about bringing our community together while raising funds for the Blackball Emergency Services Hub. So come along, enjoy a full day of great live music, support an important local cause, and help us give this year's event the finish it deserves.

Returning for their second year at Rock The Winter Blues, we're excited to welcome NEKTA back to the stage.

Catch them live from 5:00 pm on Saturday 25 July at the Blackball Workman's Club as they bring their signature blend of dub, reggae-inspired rhythms and crowd-favourite pub classics. Whether you're there to dance, sing along or simply enjoy a great afternoon of live music, NEKTA always delivers an entertaining set.

Make sure you get there early, grab a good spot and help us give them a warm Rock The Winter Blues welcome.

🎶 **Band Announcement #1 – Shimmer & Stone** 🎶

We're excited to welcome **Shimmer & Stone** to this year's **Rock the Winter Blues!** 🎸🎤

Having entertained crowds around the West Coast for the past three years, this acoustic covers duo delivers big-band energy with an incredible mix of songs spanning **Foo Fighters**, **Lewis Capaldi**, and everything in between.

🧠 The day kicks off with the **first round of our Rolling Pub Quiz at 2:00 pm** at the **Blackball Inn**.

🎵 Then, from **2:30 pm**, **Shimmer & Stone** take over the stage, providing the perfect soundtrack while you relax, grab a drink, and get ready for the next stop.

After their set, we'll head across to the **Blackball Workingmen's Club** for **Round Two of the Rolling Pub Quiz**, before the afternoon and evening continue with more fantastic live music.
