Mindfulness Month is about to begin in New Zealand, and one of my favourite ways to practise mindfulness is through creating art.
When I create, I am not focused on the end result. Instead, I allow myself to become immersed in the process itself - the movement of the pen, the shapes emerging on the page, and the simple act of being present.
Creative activities can be a wonderful way to release tension, reduce stress and anxiety, quiet a busy mind, and bring us back to the present moment. They can also help improve focus and hand-eye coordination, all while encouraging a sense of calm and flow.
Throughout the month, I'll be sharing simple mindful art activities that anyone can enjoy - no artistic experience required -
These activities can be enjoyed on your own as a moment of self-care, or shared with your children, family, and friends as a mindful and creative way to connect. The tools I use are simple and accessible, and if you don't already have them at home, there are usually easy alternatives you can use instead.
I invite you to follow along, give them a try, and take a few moments for yourself each day or week 🌿✨
