Meet David Fu 📸

David has been working as a photographer for almost 10 years.

He loves shooting weddings and commercial events, and one of the most memorable events he has photographed was a themed Chocolate Factory party.

For David, photography is all about capturing special moments and giving people memories they can look back on for years to come.

What started as creating content eventually turned into a true passion, and nearly 10 years later he still loves what he does.

Thanks for sharing your story with us, David.

You can now book David’s services through Okalenda.

P.S. The person filming David’s video is definitely not a professional videographer… as you can probably tell 😂

A little bit about last week…

What a night!

After months of planning, hard work, challenges, and excitement, we finally launched Okalenda surrounded by so many amazing people from Auckland’s event industry.

It was great to see venue owners, photographers, videographers, musicians, decorators, planners, and other event professionals all coming together, making new connections, sharing ideas, and supporting one another.

For me personally, it was a very special moment. Okalenda started as an idea, and seeing so many people believe in it and support it means the world.

A massive thank you to everyone who came along, took the time to meet new people, and shared their feedback. We are incredibly grateful for the support and excited about what’s ahead.

This is just the beginning for Okalenda, and we can’t wait to keep building something that helps connect event organisers with incredible vendors and venues across New Zealand.

Thank you for being part of the journey. ❤️

This is Benji and Poynton Studios. This is where we are hosting our vendor launch event on the 16th of June.

Big thank you to Benji and Poynton Studios for opening the doors to us.

Benji has been running Poynton Studios for the past 6 years, and behind the space there’s a really strong story of resilience. He made some time to share a bit of his journey with us (more chapters coming soon…).

I think sometimes we don’t realise how much it takes to keep a community space running. There are a lot of ups and downs behind the scenes, but also a lot of passion and resilience. Poynton Studios became part of who Benji is.

It was really nice hearing more about the reality of running the venue and also understanding how important spaces like this are for community and human connection.

And honestly, this is one of the things Okalenda has been giving me lately, the chance to meet incredible people like Benji along the way ♥️

If you haven’t registered for our special afternoon yet, spots are limited.

Oh well, AucklanDer, O-calendar, Okalenda…

Everyone has their own accent, their own way of saying things… but once we launch, organising your event will be easier than pronouncing “Okalenda.” 😄

What about you. Do you find Okalenda hard to pronounce?

We know it’s been a little quiet around here.

The truth is… we’ve spent the last few months fully focused on building Okalenda behind the scenes.

Countless meetings, testing, redesigns, mistakes, improvements, vendor conversations, and long nights.
We’re finally getting ready to launch.

And honestly? We couldn’t be more excited.

To celebrate this next chapter, we’re organising our very first vendors' networking launch event for the event industry at the

More details coming this week.

This week felt really special. ✨

While exploring how we could bring food trucks onto Okalenda, I reached out to Racine from Local Legends to better understand his business.
What started as a coffee chat turned into two full days working as front of house alongside his team at a busy event.
I know that working for someone over a weekend doesn’t give a full insight into their business, but it does provide a good understanding.

It was so good to see Local Legends thriving and to play a small part in it. This is exactly how I want Okalenda to grow: real people connecting with real vendors, business supporting business.

Thank you Racine for the opportunity, and well done Local Legends 👏
