Plomacy presents แด€สŸสŸแด‡ส แด„แด€แด›, a suite of new paintings by Venus Blacklaws.

แด€สŸสŸแด‡ส แด„แด€แด› is a body of work that invites feline & feral articulations of remembering, and observes the displacement of the stray.

Employing the archetypal cat as a liminal body within liminal spaces, Blacklaws ponders grief as something atmospheric and energetic.

Transience manifests into the physical form; the แด€สŸสŸแด‡ส แด„แด€แด› roams freely, between many worlds and its many lives.

Join us for the celebrations on 13 June, 4-6:30pm at the gallery on 8 Brown St, Ponsonby Central. All are welcome.

By translating the reo Mฤori translation of Robinson Crusoe (1719) by Daniel Defoe into the aesthetic language of platform-driven media systems, Taupaki explores the evolving relationship between propaganda and pedagogy, tracing how imposed ways of knowing move across formats and audiences, from printed colonial literature to the infrastructures of contemporary digital culture.
๐˜™๐˜ฐ๐˜ฑ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ช ๐˜’๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ถ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ extends this analysis by asking how such ideological frameworks might circulate among rangatahi Mฤori today.

Weโ€™re delighted to announce that Ashleigh Taupaki will be participating in the 18th Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art, opening September 2026 in Lyon, France.

Coinciding with this announcement, Taupaki is presenting new work with us at Aotearoa Art Fair, Works on Paper, Booth 56. Her solo with the gallery is also on view till 31 May.

Figuration is alive and well at our Futures booth for the Aotearoa Art Fair. Here are a few highlights from Brittany Walker Smithโ€™s latest works, continuing her exploration of emotional labour, aesthetic affect, and what she describes as the politics of frivolity.

"Working with plush velvet, animal print and leather, her works are a pastiche of the aesthetics she lives, finely painted over with text in a meme/RIP font. Her direct use of authorless online phrases sparks memories of [girlhood]; inside with the girls, inside with our crafts and our trinkets and our rinsed references."
