Our AKO Pia Interns are officially in the whare! 🤗

🫶🏽 Ngā mihi nui to all our wonderful industry mates, partners, mentors and whānau who joined us in welcoming the next generation of Māori Producers and Venue Technicians.

Our Pia are undertaking a 15 week internship as a part of the AKO Pia Programme, made possible through the support of the Citi Foundation’s Global Innovation Grant 🙏🏽.

🤩 For 12 weeks the Pia will be learning from mentors at Te Pou as well as the wider industry, soaking up everything they can before spending their final 3 weeks with other arts organisations working on real kaupapa/events 🚀.

✨ More to come on our budding Producers and Venue Technicians!

A huge ngā mihi to our friends at Massive Theatre for bringing their beautiful, heartwarming and uplifting whakaari, HOME MADE, to Te Pou. It felt special to hold this kaupapa in our whare rēhia, a home for the Tāmaki Makaurau creative community.

We're wishing the Massive whānau all the very best for the next leg of their haerenga. Whangārei Fam, they're heading your way next, catch them at OneOneSix! 💛

Meanwhile, the cast and crew of Kua Rewa Te Aihikirīmi are back in the whare, preparing for their Tāmaki Schools Tour. It's so lovely to have the team filling the space with big circus energy as they gear up for two busy weeks of school performances and three public shows.

You can catch Kua Rewa Te Aihikirīmi at Te Pou Theatre, Māngere Arts Centre (kura shows only), and Ellerslie Arts. 🍦✨

Making it's Tāmaki Makaurau debut is 🏉 Grass Roots! A semi-autobiographical 🎶 musical comedy based on Raureti Ormond’s life as the (very) q***r son of a pro rugby player. 💅🏽

It’s a heartfelt, hilarious and charming odyssey through the NZ rugby ages.

Join him in this historical exploration of 🌈 q***rness, masculinity and the mighty Land of the Long White Cloud. Featuring iconic kiwi hits, you’re in for a ruck-us night!
