And just like that, week one of Nohonga is done! ✨ Our artists have reached the midway point of their residence - time flies when you’re having fun! 🤩 Here’s a little more about Brydie and their Nohonga kaupapa…

Brydie Colquhoun is a freelance movement artist and choreographer. Brydie’s connection to te taiao & te moana form the spiritual grounding of her creative practice. Her kaupapa is rooted in a belief that the way we move through daily life profoundly shapes our hauora, she is committed to leading with kindness in all that she does.

A graduate of the New Zealand School of Dance (2012), Brydie has spent over a decade weaving her artistry through the fabric of Aotearoa’s contemporary dance community, from rural New Zealand communities, schools, and prisons, to international stages such as Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival and showcases in New York. In 2024, Brydie was honoured with a place on the New Zealand School of Dance’s Distinguished Graduates board, and 2025 marked her choreographic debut at Te Pou theatre, “Rongo Whakapā”.

🔥 Brydie & collaborators are spending the Nohonga delving into the pūrakau of Niwareka, Uetonga and Mataora. 👉🏽Swipe to read more…

🌠 A rare chance to catch our annual tamariki show outside of kura! 🙌🏽

In partnership with The Dust Palace, we're excited to present Kua Rewa Te Aihikirīmi, a te reo Māori circus theatre show touring three venues across Tāmaki Makaurau this August 🤸🏽🤹🏽‍♀️🍦.

Usually performed exclusively for kura, this year we're opening up just THREE public performances for whānau to enjoy 🤩.

Expect a double scoop of fun, sprinkled with acrobatics, contortion, juggling laughter, and plenty of mischief. It's the perfect outing for tamariki (4-12) and their pakeke

🤩 We had the FIRST development for a new work by Amber Curreen & Tainui Tukiwaho called ‘Line Up Kaupoi’ - yeehaaaww! 🤠 Inspired by Amber’s Dad’s love for country music 🎶, the joy in coming together through line dancing 👢 with our kaumatua & rangatahi and that classic Māori humour 😉.

It was such a fun weekend, we cannot wait to see where this one goes! ✨Ngā mihi to Auckland Live for supporting this workshop. 🙏🏽
