Escaping Utopia - documentary title sequence is a finalist for Best.
Working closely with Mike Davison,
our goal was to capture the isolation and distortion felt by residents of the Gloriavale community, and set the tone for the series with a visually striking, hauntingly memorable opening.
Using the panelled glass found in institutional doors, we developed a treatment that conceals, contains and distorts.
Instead of relying on digital effects, we built a full analogue rig with glass panels, a laser-cut 3D typographic model, and cast member from the series. The result is a mesmerising sequence of organic aberrations—an opening that is as unsettling as it is beautiful.

The hero still image was also used for key artwork throughout.

Beyond excited that LUMA Queenstown continues in a new interpretation. We've been making the annual pilgrimage to Queenstown for the best part of 10 years to collaborate on the "best light festival in NZ in our opinion!" Can't wait to cook up some more bespoke creative for this wonderful new event LUMA Queenstown Queenstown from Kings Birthday weekend, running through winter.

LUMA is spreading its wings into Kiwi Park with an immersive night walk through winter each year, after bringing in new investment.

Our friends at Auckland Museum have a interesting production job going if anyone on the look out - details below: we are working on ensuring that we are well resourced in our teams and so I am on the hunt for a Senior Digital Experience Producer. This person will be part of the Digital Experience team and will work on a diversity of projects across the Museum, including Toitū te Taiao. I am looking at a 5+ year experience producer with a range of experiences with creative technologies from AR, projection mapping to gaming. But also most importantly, I am looking for someone with a deep cultural competency who is ready to fully embark and support Auckland Museum’s waka towards a truly bicultural place to work and to visit.
