Mānawatia a Matariki e te whānau! ✨

This Matariki we celebrate the entrance of the new year with the ‘Matariki Herenga Waka – For Everyone.’ The theme is an adaptation of the proverb ‘Tāmaki herenga waka’ which translates as ‘Tāmaki the gathering place of many canoes’. It invites us to gather together as a diverse community to celebrate under the auspices of the Matariki season.

In the spirit of gathering together we have collated some awesome musical Matariki events happening around Aotearoa. From drone light shows in Ōtepoti to a Waiata Anthems showcase in Tāmaki Makaurau, there’s a celebration across the motu wherever you are!

However you celebrate the Tau Hou, we hope you have a restful Matariki period.

Matariki ahunga nui, see you in the New Year!
