Doc Edge 2027 — Submissions Now Open!

We are delighted to open the call for submissions for Doc Edge Festival 2027, Asia Pacific's premier Oscar®-qualifying documentary festival, now in its 22nd year.

We are looking for original, impactful documentary stories from New Zealand and around the world. Whether you are a first-time filmmaker or a seasoned storyteller, we want to see your work.

Short Documentary
Immersive Project
NZ Tertiary Student Documentary
(NZ & International categories available)

Four deadlines; submit early and save!
🟢 Early Bird: 15 October 2026
🟡 Regular: 31 December 2026
🟠 Late: 15 January 2027
🔴 Extended: 31 January 2027

We had a beautiful and emotional World Premiere screening at The Capitol Cinema over Matariki weekend. NZ Wars: Stories of Waerenga-a-Hika returns to the site of the 1865 siege through the voices of descendants, blending intimate storytelling with the landscapes where these events unfolded. More than a chronicle of battle, it's an act of remembrance and resilience for the Tūranga communities.

As the curtain closes on Doc Edge Festival 2026, we want to say a huge thank you — to our members, audience, filmmakers, immersive project creators, partners, supporters, our incredible team, interns, and volunteers. However big or small your part, the 21st edition was a success because of you. ❤️🙏
