💬 COURAGEOUS CONVERSATIONS: WHAT KEEPS US MOVING? ❤️ This Thursday, we’re making space to talk about how we keep showing up for the things we care about when change feels uncertain.

How do we live with anger, grief or powerlessness and still find a way to act? What helps us sustain hope? And what becomes possible when we face these questions together?

Maya Nova will guide a panel conversation exploring agency, community and collective action, joined by:
Alex Bonham — Chair, Waitematā Local Board
Cathy Livermore — Kairongoā, artist, educator and facilitator
Jessie Kim — Founder, Manawa Dance
Maher Nazzal — Chair, Palestine Forum of New Zealand

Bring your questions, your curiosity and a willingness to hear another perspective. Whether you know the space well or have never stepped through our doors, you’re welcome here. 💛

💛 MAKING SPACE: HARM REDUCTION HUI. Last Thursday we gathered with CAYAD and Know Your Stuff NZ to explore what a community-led harm reduction hub could look like in central Tāmaki Makaurau.

Huge thanks to everyone who joined us, shared their experiences and brought their ideas to the table. Making space for honest kōrero and learning from each other is where this work begins.

We’re working through what you shared to help shape the next steps. And whether you made it along or couldn’t be there, we’d love your input.

Our short survey takes 5–10 minutes and helps us understand what our community needs and who’d like to be involved. You can leave your contact details at the end to stay connected with the kaupapa.

💬 COURAGEOUS CONVERSATIONS: WHAT KEEPS US MOVING? ❤️What keeps us acting when we care deeply about something, but cannot know or control the outcome?

How do we work with feelings of anger, grief or powerlessness? What is the role of hope? Can we stay engaged without becoming consumed by the outcome? Where do we find agency when the problems we face feel much bigger than any one of us? And what role do community, spirituality, solidarity and collective action play?

Maya Nova, Mindful Leadership Coach and Speaker, will lead us in this conversation with renowned local guests:

Alex Bonham — Chair, Waitematā Local Board
Cathy Livermore — Kairongoā, Mauri Tau cultural somatics, Artist, Educator, Facilitator and Philosopher
Jessie Kim — Founder, Manawa Dance
Maher Nazzal — Chair, Palestine Forum of New Zealand

Whether you’re a regular at The Button Factory or this will be your first time visiting, we welcome you to dip your toe in, get acquainted and be part of this Courageous Conversation. You never know what you might discover. 🤝
