Our next gig is next 11.30am next Friday, June 13, outside Lifewise’s Merge cafe on K Road. Then it’s karaoke time at Merge - start practising your favourite song now!

Then we’re singing at the Lifewise Big Sleepout on Thursday, June 26. A great cause, raising funds and awareness of the great social services provided by everyone at Merge.

We all love what the Auckland Street Choir brings to us in different ways. We always have a great time: singing together, learning new songs while enjoying the many waiata Rohan, Mark and others have taught us over the years, making new friends and enjoying Karen’s tasty kai.

But there’s even more good news: it’s great for our brains!

Here’s what music therapist Dr Alison Talmage has to say. She’s helped developed a guide for therapeutic choirs around Aotearoa, and co-founded a choir for people with brain conditions: the CeleBRation Choir through Auckland University's Centre for Brain Research.

The co-founder of a therapeutic choir for people with brain conditions, has developed a handbook so more choirs can be established around the country.

The Lifewise Big Sleepout is happening again - next month, Thursday June 25. Please encourage everyone to support this great cause and help Merge cafe in K Road continue to do its great work in the community. Sponsor the people who are preparing to sleep rough, outdoors, in the middle of winter.

Happy 2026, everyone 🌟

We’re back in action tonight! Come and sing along from 6pm-8pm, Pitt St Church (basement), just off K Rd. As always, great kai provided by the wonderful Karen Chan (who can sing as well as create delicious food).

All welcome, and it’s free (koha welcome)🎶

Our last gig for 2025, at Sunday Blessings in Freyberg Square yesterday. Great to have so many of the choir there, new members and others we haven’t seen for a while.
Have a wonderful festive season everyone, see you all in 2026! 🌟🎄

More festive fun on K Road today. Thanks to the wonderful Merge cafe team, including all the volunteers, who put on a great three-course meal. And thanks to gallery owner Melanie Rodger for organising a food collection for Lifewise at her gallery, and joining in with the choir today. Buddy the border collie was on form too.

Yet another fun Christmas gig for the Auckland Street Choir yesterday at Te Komititanga square, Britomart - right beside the giant Christmas tree.
It was great having so many people joining in.
We have two more gigs this week, our last for 2025:
1. Thursday Dec 18th, 11.30am at Merge Café on K Road.
2. Sunday 21st, 4.45pm for Sunday Blessings, by the Ellen Melville Centre in Freyberg Square.

Kelly and the rest of the Street Choir can definitely see clearly - and sing clearly - now the rain has gone. We had a great time joining in the K Road festivities at lunchtime today (and didn’t let that motorbike drown us out!)
Next gig at 5pm today:
Some more festive singing outside the Auckland Central Library, while the wonderful Feed the Homeless volunteers put on a feast for locals who appreciate all they do in the community.
