While I was here in my studio working on ‘Girl With Big Pants’ I realised It’s been four years since I picked up a brush with intention — and what a journey it’s been! And I felt the need of doing an appreciation post ..
Painting has become so much more than a creative outlet; it’s been my way to freedom. A way to find inner peace.A way of being a better person.
Each stroke has helped me exorcise old demons, let go of past trauma, and release the weight I once carried. Through color and texture, I’ve learned to quiet the vortex of thoughts and emotions swirling in my head. Painting has become my sanctuary — the place where I finally feel granted, grounded, and free.
The poem in this painting says it best:

“She is done with acting tough for show,
with taking hits and letting go —
one glove still on — yeah, she can swing,
but now her truth’s the louder thing.
No crown, no script, no referee —
just scars and art and the right to be.”

This piece, and this post, are both acts of appreciation — to myself, for showing up and staying the course, and to all the incredible people who’ve supported me along the way.
A big thank you goes out to .painter, for being an inspiration for buying my very first SOLD piece and encouraging me to pursue this path; , , , for seeing something in my work and giving me the opportunity to join my first group show; (former Allpress curator), for trusting me with my first solo show in Auckland; and , for allowing me in their life and in the best space to express myself, and for all the art chats, the mentorship, and inspiration; to the guys for trusting my work…
And of course, to my mum — for giving me the love for art — and to all my friends and family who’ve stood by me and encouraged me through this journey: I don’t have enough words to express how grateful I am. 4 years have been passed and I feel very proud of all that I have achieved, and is also because of all you,
So yeah… a big, fat thank you — from the bottom of my heart. 💛

That’s it!

‘Girls with big pants’ still under construction..

“Not every softness is owed”
(Acrylic and oil sticks on canvas)
This is my no, painted loud.

Let’s normalise say No out loud! No to anyone that make you feel small, that crashes you with their huge sick ego, No to disrespect, No to mind game and brain washing, No to people that makes you feel like always walking on eggshells, No to the user, the suckers, the vampires NO!

‘Reduce to clear’
Acrylics, soft pastels and oil sticks on canvas.

Is my representation of my brokenness, but also the possibility of transformation. Because sometimes, we have to break to rebuild.

‘LOVE ME NOT’
Mixed media on canvas.
This painting captures the emotional aftermath of intimacy—where longing and loss coexist in the same skin. On the left, a skeletal figure mourns in silence, stitched shut and cradling a broken heart; on the right, a raw, red form pulses with confusion, hunger, and vulnerability. Divided by a glowing yellow space, the work explores the space between numbness and desire, memory and flesh—the ghost of what once was, and the body that still remembers.

“Under water, where silence hums,
I walk where light no longer comes.
My limbs are shadows, stretched and slow,
The ocean holds what I won’t show.
A crown of thought, a golden flare,
Still clings like breath to salt-thick air.
Inside my head, a maze remains—
A storm of memory, soft with pain.
I raise my hand, the current stills,
And in my palm, the sorrow spills.”
