AUCKLAND SUPPORT/ADVICE:
Not my usual content - but in my other hat - I deal a bit with emergencies.
Thought Iโd share some advice on here - as every little bit helps and shared on other platforms and a lot have found helpful - feel free to share.
๐ If you are at home, good idea to boil water. If you donโt have 5L bottles, boil up water and pop them in pans - water can be contaminated for days and there might be difficult accessing/sourcing. Aim for 3 days of water and 3L per person.
๐ Make sure your phones are charged and if you have powerbanks charge them too - power can go out in the high winds.
๐ Keep a bag packed in case you need to evacuate suddenly.
๐ Floodwater is dangerous - Currents are strong and itโs very easy to get stuck in even 15cm of water- try to avoid driving/movement today (know weddings go ahead, try be cautious and careful as easy to get stuck) - floodwater is often mixed with sewage - so if you find yourself in it - try take a shower to avoid getting sick
๐ If house is flooded - take pictures for insurance, try to dry asap, basic hygiene - wash hands in clean water/sanitiser as floodwater may be contaminated, turn off mains - electricity and water.
๐Check on older and vulnerable people
Be safe out there team ๐
