Our biggest fundraiser ever is live! 50/50 — For Makers and Objectspace.

We're fundraising with Boosted NZ to support both our ambitious programming and the spaces that hold it. With all gifts doubled up to our $80k target (thanks to generous match-givers), there has never been a better time to support Objectspace. We need to raise it by 15 June (all or nothing) so now is the time to give – whatever you can! ❤️

We’re thrilled to announce our 2026 programme begins with a major solo exhibition of new work by London-based Italian designer Martino Gamper OBE.

This new commission is made possible with the support of Exhibition Patrons Tony Kerridge and Micheal Do and our Strategic Partner ECC New Zealand, with accompanying public programmes supported by British Council New Zealand.

This international project includes a new body of work created for Objectspace’s main Ockham Gallery, and an accompanying exhibition and publication conceived in collaboration between Gamper and designers James Goggin and Shan James of Practise, to be set within our Chartwell Gallery. An edit of the exhibition will travel south to Sir Miles Warren Gallery, our satellite space in Ōtautahi Christchurch, to open in mid-2026.

We look forward to sharing further exhibition details and public programming plans in the new year, and extend our gratitude to the collaborators and supporters backing this milestone project.

We’re back! After a somewhat harrowing 48 hours of being hacked, we’re securely back running our original Instagram profile: https://www.instagram.com/objectspace/

Persistence and a stroke of luck got us here – it’s a massive relief and a reminder of the risks of our digital social lives. Be safe out there, and maybe be old school and sign-up to our mailing list via our website. In that spirit, here’s Old Brain by Warwick Freeman.

UPDATE: We may have 🤞 got our Instagram account back (which was hacked on Wednesday). Keep an eye on our page, and we will update you when the dust settles over on Insta.

Ngā mihi to everyone who shared and reported. 1,000 followers on our new account in 24hrs was a real morale boost, thank you! And to the friends and experts who helped us fight back – we dedicate this Helping Hand to you, made by jewellery legend Warwick Freeman.

A rare opportunity to own a piece of an important architecture archive. Four gone, four remain. Photographs of Pacific architecture uncovered in the archives of Dr Mike Austin for the 2022 exhibition Oceanic Architectural Routes.

Framed in oak at 360 x 520mm, and $550 each. Get yours as part of our 2025 Weekly Objects Limited Edition Fundraiser: objectspace.org.nz/limited-editions/

“Something a little different this week folks, eight image artefacts from the quietly acclaimed Dr Mike Austin. Documents from a life spent dreaming of the sea, and in pursuit of making meaning of how people live and dwell across Te Moana Nui a Kiwa.

An architecture teacher, writer and a deep and thoughtful thinker. These images played a small and potent role in widening our view outwards. Mike’s veracious curiosity for the ocean that he lives within underpinned his belief that there is a great deal this place and its people could teach us.”– Kim Paton

Six blankets and rugs made especially for Objectspace by Daegan Wells are available now through our online shop. Be quick – they won't last.

“Is there anything better than a crafted object that quite literally omits a warm embrace? Daegan Wells exceeds all expectations in the Venn diagram where craftmanship meets grace, with a high dose of cozy. The outcome isn’t just righteously lovely, it’s also utterly humane.

For Objectspace his three ‘Made for the Home’ blankets and rugs seem to gently remind us to be kind to ourselves, and to each other. To own one of these works is to submit to a world where the objects we love don’t just look good, they ask us to feel good too.”– Kim Paton
