Banished Music & Strange News together with Astral People, present GENA, live in Auckland this October. Tickets on sale now!

GENA is the duo of Liv.e and Karriem Riggins, who joined forces in early 2025 after Riggins sent the Dallas-born vocalist/producer some instrumentals for a feature and the pair realised they were onto something bigger. Riggins built his name behind the kit with Erykah Badu, Common and J Dilla; together the two traded ideas long-distance, with Liv.e recording vocals from home while Riggins shaped the instrumentation. The result was their debut album The Pleasure Is Yours, out earlier this year on Lex Records, a loose, live-feeling record moving through soul, hip-hop and jazz that Pitchfork called "cosmic experimentalism and amorphous funk."

They bring The Pleasure Is Yours Tour to Neck of the Woods this October!

Today, we're announcing Anthonie Tonnon’s Cinematographer tour.

It's an immersive live show, and the biggest artistic project he’s ever attempted. Anthonie and is team have spent the better part of three years building it, and this October and November we'll take it on tour through New Zealand, Australia and the UK.

Part film, part francophile performance lecture, part disco club set, he’s built a theatrical world around a completely new collection of songs, created with Jonathan Pearce and Anthonie’s band.

Anthonie is also announcing that his first new music in three years arrives next Tuesday, 28 July.

Friday 9 October – Hollywood Avondale, Auckland
Friday 23 October – Royal Opera House, Whanganui (at the )
Friday 30 October – Papa Hou, Christchurch
Saturday 31 October – Hannah Playhouse, Wellington
Wednesday 4 November – Northcote Social Club, Melbourne
Saturday 7 November – Theatreship, London

Cinematographer tells a story that draws together the French avant-garde in the 1960s, turn-of-the-millennium dance culture and documentary film, and the glorious, mystifying city of Whanganui. Through it all, Anthonie will be your DJ, singer, documentarian and revolutionary guide.

Join us at anthonietonnon.com/mail. You'll get immediate access to presale tickets before they go on general sale on Friday, and you'll also get the first glimpse into the sonic world of Cinematographer - our new single and extended mix, Executive Assistant.

Presale starts Wed, 22 July, 10AM
General sale: Friday 24 July, 10am

Stereolab are playing two shows in Aotearoa this week and we still can't quite believe it.

The iconic Anglo-French avant-pop group return on the back of Instant Holograms on Metal Film, their first studio album in fifteen years and it's every bit as good as you'd hope.
