Northcote Toy Library

Northcote Toy Library Northcote Toy Library is a non-profit community organization, lending quality toys to our members just like a regular library but for toys!

Each family can borrow up to 7 toys and keep them for 3 weeks! The Northcote Toy Library is a community service run by volunteers. We provide a large range of well designed, safe and educational toys, including ride-ons, balance bikes, tents, infant toys, puzzles, games, Duplo sets, musical instruments, theme play toys (eg. dolls' house, farmyard set, trains) and role play toys such as kitchens, l

awnmowers, baby cradles, etc, for you to borrow at a minimal cost. This will allow you to match toys with your child's development. We hope you and your family enjoy the experience. Please join us by click the "Join Now" button on our website http://www.northcotetoylibrary.org.nz , make a transaction prior your visit, and bring a valid ID, letter of address, and you're all set! Every day to the Northcote Toy Library will be like Christmas for your little one(s)!

We have some staff away this weekend and next, so we'd love some extra hands on deck to help the library run smoothly.

If you're on a duty membership and need to do some shifts, here's your chance!
And even if you're on a non-duty membership, if you're able to help out we'll make a credit to your account as a thank you.

Just put your name down on the roster after signing into our website :)

💛 A note on fundraising & helping out

Like many community organisations, our operating costs continue to rise. We work hard to keep membership fees as low and accessible as possible, but this does mean we rely on additional funding sources — including fundraising — to keep everything running smoothly.

We really appreciate our members being part of that effort in whatever way they can, whether that’s lending a hand at events, contributing behind the scenes, or helping spread the word.

We’ll be holding a sausage sizzle and bake sale in September and will be looking for parent helpers to make it happen. More details will come closer to the time, but we’d love your support. And if you have ideas for fundraising, we’re always open to hearing them!

As well as hiring a new librarian, we’d also like to remind everyone that our committee is always open to new members, and we warmly welcome anyone who would like to get involved. We are currently recruiting for general members, a fundraising officer, and a grant officer, and will soon be looking for a treasurer as well. It’s a great way to support the library and connect with the community.

If you’re interested in the librarian role or a committee position, or would like more information, please email [email protected]

We’d love for you to join the Toy Library team!

🎁 Gift vouchers now available all year round.

We’re excited to share that you can now purchase Toy Library gift vouchers — a simple way to spread the love of play to friends and whānau.

How does it work?
Just get in touch with us by email or chat with the librarian during opening hours, and choose the value you’d like. The person receiving the voucher can use it as-is or put it towards a different membership option if they prefer.

You’ll receive a voucher (paper or digital) to pass on, and the recipient will have three months to activate their membership.

💰 Membership Price Update – Effective 1 April

From 1st April, there will be a small increase in membership fees.

We haven’t raised our prices since at least 2018, and during that time many of our operating costs—such as rent, wages, insurance, and toy upkeep—have gradually increased. This adjustment will help us continue maintaining and renewing our toy collection so it stays fresh, safe, and fun for everyone.

We’re very mindful of keeping the Toy Library as affordable and accessible as possible:

- We offer reduced membership options for parent helpers.
- We’re supported by grants and fundraising, which help us keep costs down.
- We always aim to provide great value for families.

Even with this change, the Toy Library remains a very economical way to enjoy a wide and ever-growing range of toys—and we’re excited to keep expanding our collection throughout the year.
