Another Wonderful Felting session with my Gulf Harbour group from Estuary Arts Centre ✨

This week we finished our handmade lampshades — adding 3D details, final touches and bringing everything together.

Just look at these beautiful ideas! 😍 Each one is completely unique and will add such an artistic touch to the home. And when the light comes on… even more magical! ✨

👋 From silk & merino wool to our own handmade lampshades!

Class 5 of 8 of our Wonderful Wool Creations course at Estuary Arts Centre, Orewa — led by Agi from Vesu.nz.

What a beautiful class! ☀️ Surrounded by colour, creativity and that gorgeous Estuary view, we started creating our lampshades — but first, we made the fabric itself!

Fine merino wool, delicate silk, water, soap and lots of hands-on work… each piece completely different, reflecting its maker’s own ideas and style. 👐✨

And I love that these classes are about more than creating — we learn, chat, laugh, meet people and enjoy a few creative hours together. ❤️

This week we created the fabric.
Next week… the lamps come to life! 💡✨

Still time to visit Estuary Arts Centre in Orewa and enjoy the annual Members’ Merit Awards Exhibition ✨

The galleries are filled with over 200! wonderful artworks by local artists — many of them one-of-a-kind pieces waiting to find their new homes.

You’ll find a few of my VESU creations there too 🌸 — my colourful Hibiscus wool & silk shawl with matching flower brooch, a sculptural Hibiscus Bloom vase, and Beyond the Fiord, inspired by the beauty of New Zealand’s South Island.

And while you’re there, pop into the Gift Shop! I’ve just added a fresh selection of my wool & silk shawls, light scarves and delicate flower brooches, alongside many beautiful handmade treasures from other local artists.

💛 Yellow Camellia — my newest shawl!

I’m so happy with how this one turned out! 😊

Created on delicate black silk, light as a mist, with soft merino wool and beautiful Camellia flowers.

It’s wonderfully light and easy to wear — perfect to gently wrap around your shoulders during the day, or to add something special to a simple evening outfit. ✨

Yellow Camellia has already made its way to Bath Boutique, our lovely local gallery in Browns Bay, where you can see it, try it on and perhaps take it home with you. 💛

And it didn’t arrive alone! I’ve also delivered a fresh selection of my handmade shawls and scarves — soft cream and beige, beautiful olive with colourful accents, dusty pink, and of course those eye-catching turquoise shades. 🩵

So if you’re around Browns Bay, pop into Bath Boutique and have a look — you might find your favourite. 😊
