Warm up your winter afternoon with the glorious sound of woodwinds and piano, as wind players from the Auckland Philharmonia join acclaimed pianist Stephen De Pledge for a concert designed to lift your spirits when you need it most.

Oboist Camille Wells, clarinettist Jonathan Cohen, bassoonist Ingrid Hagan, and horn player Gaby Pho each take their turn in the spotlight across a beautifully varied programme, from the lyrical charm of Coulthard’s Oboe Sonata and Gliere’s tender Nocturne to the playful wit of Grovlez’s Sicilienne et Allegro Giocoso and the vivid storytelling of Bernstein’s Clarinet Sonata, before oboe, horn, and piano combine for Blanc’s graceful Romance.

Finally, the full ensemble comes together for Mozart’s beloved Quintet in E-flat major. It’s an afternoon of intimate chamber music at its finest — come let these radiant winds chase away the winter cold and leave you glowing.

Free parking is available at Symphonia Music.

Message from Marie Ross from the The University of Auckland School of Music:
We are looking for any oboe and bassoon players who might like to come into the Uni for one afternoon session to play wind arrangements written by our Master's students?

It is part of an assignment for a class on Mozart! The arrangements will all be Mozart and sight-readable (if not, they will lose points!). There will be different works arranged.

Thursday Aug. 27 from 2-4pm at the School of Music, 6 Symonds St. Please let Marie know if you'd be keen and available: [email protected] (or here on fb!) Thank you!
