Impromptu shoot at Hamilton Gardens

These were all shot on my phone rather than my usual camera gear, and honestly, I’m really happy with how they came out 🙂
Just goes to show you don’t always need expensive gear when the light, colours, location and timing all come together to capture the moment.

Shot back in January, finally getting around to editing and posting them.

First set from the shoot, more to come.

This storm rolled through Paerata, South Auckland this afternoon with heavy rain and a quick burst of hail.

Shot just before it hit around 2:05pm, with some really interesting structure in this one.

To some it may look like a tornado funnel forming, but it’s actually just a lowering under the base with cloud being pulled into it. Still pretty cool to see though.

A few highlights from the Spark Diwali celebrations back in 2023.

This was my first proper go at capturing an event like this, focusing on people, movement and moments rather than the landscapes, macro, pets, wildlife and cars I usually shoot.

I’ve covered a few more events since, so I’ll share those over the next little while.

Quick little set from a wander around Karangahake Gorge.

It’s one of those spots where you’ve got everything… old rusting machinery, waterfalls, random details, and then cows just casually judging you from a hill 😄

Good reminder to just get out, take the camera, and see what you find.

Beauty & the Beast - A tiny macro world series
From bright flowers to tiny insects… all the way to one “I did NOT need to see that this close” moment.
Most of these little subjects are only 2–15mm in real life.
From ants and flies to a slightly oversized “No. Just NO!” horror-movie guest star.
