My Party Song. Māori TV. A show we used to host that we're still quietly proud of.

This was the final shoot day group photo for season 1.

The format was beautifully simple — work with the guest artists on the day, jam their songs, feel it out together. No over-rehearsing. No safety net. Just wairua and music and whatever happened in the room.

That spontaneity kept us on our toes every single time. And in a relatively short space of time, we'd built something real.

All we wanted to know on that last day was whether the wairua we felt would translate to the screen.

We think it did. 🎶

There are gigs you keep a mental note of.

We've been lucky — 80-plus cities, 20-plus countries, more communities than we can count. You'd think after all of that, the bar gets hard to clear.

Matariki shines like no other.

And when you throw in a long break between paid catch ups, getting back in the room and singing together again? Still a blast.

Every single time. 🎶

We've had the privilege of singing this one for a while now. It finds its way into most kaupapa we're part of — and there's a reason for that. The intention of this waiata just fits. Every time. That feels more important now than ever.

It particularly fit on this morning. Early. Cold. Not quite warmed up.

Some people call it the national Matariki broadcast. We call it a paid catch up.

Four fullas living at opposite ends of the motu -- the only guaranteed way to get us all in the same room is to put a microphone in front of us. So we'll take it.

But that's the thing about these catch ups. The moment someone picks up a guitar and we start singing together, it doesn't matter how long it's been. It just clicks back into place.

Matariki always brings us home. This one just happened to bring the whole country along with us. 🎶
