New drawing of a Spitfire diving in to intercept and ‘tip’ a V1 rocket. A technique used to throw the rocket out of control causing it to crash. While dangerous, it was considered safer than shooting it out of the sky due to the fact that you had to get pretty close to hit it, and the following explosion could cause catastrophic damage to your own aircraft.

This drawing is of the Me262, the worlds first operational jet fighter. It’s speed enabled it to enter and withdraw from combat at will. The first shot down by an allied aircraft was picked off during a final landing approach.

This drawing was inspired by reading about the Indianapolis and other amazing sea rescues thanks to the men who flew these great work horses. The PBY Catalina was used by all allied forces including RNZAF. Many were based at laucala bay in Suva.
