Term 4 children’s art classes kick off next week, and there are still a few spaces available!

If your tamariki loves making, experimenting, getting creative and exploring new ideas, now’s the time to enrol ✏

Ngā kākano — Beginners art making (6–8 years)
→ Saturdays | 1–2:30pm | 8 weeks | $130
→ Wednesdays | 3:30–5pm | 9 weeks | $146

Te tipunga — Developing art skills (8–12 years)
→ Tuesdays | 3:30–5pm | 9 weeks | $146

Our Term 4 children’s art classes are starting in just over two weeks, and we’d love to welcome your tamariki back into the studio for another term of creativity, experimenting and making! 🎨

Ngā kākano — Beginners art making (6–8 years)

Our second Talking Sticks workshop with Tui Hobson was held on Saturday, with another wonderful group getting hands-on and discovering the art of contemporary carving.

Part of our Te Ana o Hine Carving Series at Te Tuhi, these workshops are an incredible opportunity to learn the basics of carving using traditional hand tools while creating your own artwork.

We still have one session remaining with Tui Hobson:

Learn the basics of carving using traditional hand tools as you create your own low-relief carved artwork. Tui will guide you through the techniques step-by-step, making this workshop ideal for beginners while also adapting the session for those with more carving experience.

All tools and materials are provided (please bring your own safety gloves).

Our Soap Carving workshops with Ngaroma Riley begin later this month:

Learn about the tikanga of carving and the ancestral form and function of the koruru mask before developing practical carving skills using soap and simple, safe tools.

A month into our Term 3 children’s art classes at Te Tuhi, our Saturday Beginners art making students have been getting to know our local Tāmaki estuary through drawing, painting, nature printing and simple 3D construction.

We’ve loved seeing their ideas take shape, with each young artist finding their own way of looking, making and experimenting.

This term is being led by our new tutor, Minke Lupa, who approaches teaching as a space for “healing, connection and self-discovery,” encouraging young artists to explore, play and find their own voice.

Our children’s art classes continue across the year, with new creative projects and tutors to discover each term. Registrations for Term 4, 2026 will open in late September – stayed tuned!

Term 3 children's art classes start this week! 🎨

There's still time to enrol your tamariki for a creative term at Te Tuhi.

Our classes are designed for young artists aged 6–12 and take place in our Pakuranga studios over nine weeks.

→ Beginners art making – Ngā kākano (6–8 years)
Saturdays (1.00–2.30pm, from 25 July) or Wednesdays (3.30–5.00pm, from 29 July)

→ Developing art skills – Te tipunga (8–12 years)
Tuesdays (3.30–5.00pm, from 28 July)

→ Play with clay – Toi uku (8–12 years)
Mondays (3.30–5.00pm, from 27 July)

Our experienced tutors create a fresh programme each term, giving children the chance to explore painting, drawing, clay and mixed media in a fun, supportive environment.

Bring your well-loved clothing to Te Tuhi for free mending and alterations with the NFACT team.

Part of ‘Kohan Zari Ko’, meaning “turning old to gold”, this ongoing project creates a welcoming space for women from refugee and migrant backgrounds to connect through textile practice, skill-sharing and community.

Visitors are invited to spend time in the space, meet the makers and learn more about the project while repairs are completed.

Floral Art Workshop: Create, Arrange and Paint Your Own Flowers 🌸🎨

Join us for a relaxed and creative Sunday afternoon.

In this special workshop, you will begin by creating your own fresh flower arrangement with our in house florist Jenny.
Then, guided by art teacher Olive Breach, you will paint or draw your arrangement and turn it into a personal artwork.

No experience needed. Just come and enjoy the process.

✨ What’s included:

- A guided flower arranging session
- Art instruction and all materials provided
- Delicious afternoon tea 

At the end of the workshop, you will take home:
