📽 WIN! A film that explores why bookstores continue to matter and the profound emotional connection people have with them sounds like our sort of movie.

The Bookstore That Never Sleeps is set inside a beloved after-hours bookstore in Nova Scotia, Canada. It follows an 82-year-old former seaman who, after a lifetime at sea and experiences that left him with PTSD, created a bookstore unlike any other. Open only at night and with no set trading hours, it welcomes insomniacs, wanderers and dreamers, becoming a sanctuary for connection, conversation and community.

What begins as a portrait of an unusual bookstore evolves into a moving meditation on memory, grief, friendship and the enduring importance of physical places in an increasingly digital world.

⏰The countdown is on… A big announcement drops tomorrow at 7am, and trust us, it's worth the wait! Is anyone brave enough to take a guess at what it might be?!

📚✨ Our writers help us connect with who we are, where we come from, and the stories that shape Aotearoa.

We asked festival goers which New Zealand authors they love to read.

✨ The creative process might look effortless, but it often takes persistence, patience, and a willingness to stay with the work when it gets hard.

For illustrator and author Ruth Paul, that's exactly what makes it worthwhile. 📚🎨
