It was wonderful to be stitching on the suffrage panel at the Suffrage and Stitches event at the Ashburton Art Gallery and Museum. Our members also thoroughly enjoyed the talk by the Ashburton family history group.

Just a few more days to wait.....exciting!

Learn about the Mid Canterbury suffragettes at our upcoming talk, and add your own stitch to a new textile panel honouring their achievements! 🧵

At this free talk, the Ashburton Family History Group will share their years of research on the Mid Canterbury women who signed the suffrage petition, and add local context to this pivotal moment in time.

During this talk, we will also be running a community stitching event! Add a stitch to the textile artwork that is being created to celebrate our suffragettes by the Ashburton Embroiderers' Guild to support the Association of New Zealand Embroiderers’ Guilds Inc and Canterbury Suffrage Stitchers. Your stitch will help to create a beautiful new panel honouring the suffrage movement.
