It’s harvest season 🦞🍃🌼 & this kete was made to gather it all 🫶🏾
Kaimoana, Kai from the māra, Rongoā or whatever the lucky winner likes to harvest from te taiao 🪶 Shell be your summer bestie, woven with good intentions, to carry your harvest and let the paru, sand and dirt fall through.
When I think about the whakapapa of kupenga, I think about the relationship between harakeke our hands & kai. The knowledge.. Learning& Surviving, making &creating Knowing where to gather, when to gather, and what to leave so there will be more tomorrow 🌀
There’s so much mātauranga to learn and unlearn & that gets me thinking about te kete wānanga.. the kete of knowledge we each carry and continue to fill.. Our experiences go in there. Our whānau & teacher's kōrero. Our whakapapa.. The lessons we sometimes learn the hard way. For me, the spaces in this kete hold a lesson too. We can keep the mātauranga but we must let the s**t fall through.. Keep what helps us grow. Let the paru loosen its grip & make room for what we’re yet to learn & experience 💃🏼
Now I’m headed to the Te Waipounamu Weavers Hui in Ōtautahi, to gather more mātauranga and be surrounded by people who share this love for Rāranga and our native rauemi 🥹🫶🏾 My beautiful friend Dee Mana Wahine invited me & encouraged me to come. She has supported me so much since I've met her 🫶🏾 So im going to raffle this kete and let the people support the haerenga and our petrol and my admission fee..There’s a lesson in receiving too, something that im still working on... Buut how cool for me to know this kete will carry someone else’s harvest, while helping me gather mine 🌀
& what I bring home will flow into my mahi, my wānanga and our hapori here 🌊 the ripple effects are allready giving me goosebumps!
So what are you gathering this season? & what are you ready to let fall through the gaps?
Raffle be up today if your interested 🫶🏾 Ngā Mihi Maioha,
