Going back to the village, walking into those old homes, and seeing my cousins living close to the land was an eye-opening experience. When I was younger, I didn’t care. But now, as the world grows more chaotic, we search for peace. And that peace exists in the village — in the mountains — in the hearts of the people who live close to nature.

I went back to my village and found pieces of myself.

I saw history in mud walls and strength in the women before me.
Some traditions I will honor.
Some I will break.

Gurung. Mountain soul.
Not made to fit into a box ,
made to redefine one. ✊🏽🏔

Under the canopy of the giant Benjamina,
I sit.
I sit along its branches — strong,
they hold me, they sway me,
they dizzy me —
yet I am safe.

Among the trees, among the birds,
I hear their sweet notes of chirping,
a song only the wild can give.

Above me, blue sky.
Before me, green pastures, rice fields —
they steady my heart,
they return me to calm.

Here, among the trees,
I feel at home.
Here, among the wild,
I am home.

OUR STORY

The word “Bora” has its roots in the Nepali culture. Everything starts and ends with it. Seeds are delivered in it to the farmers. They plough their hardships day and night to bear its fruit. The final product is then sold in the market through the same bora. Bora depicts a meaningful essence to our life, in many ways we are connected and our happiness is shared. This soulful cycle, which we call life, is portrayed in it. Our very existence and way of life is supported by it. It encompasses our tradition, culture and values, goes beyond it. And what more do we need?

Our approach is similar, but we share it through our fashion and lifestyle apparels. Every fabric is hand picked, ethically, from local manufacturers. Our designs take inspirations from our every day life, embracing the local culture and tradition. And each of our products has a story. Each story has something to share. We take the simple approach of being minimalistic and sustainable. Driven by the theme, “Quality, not Quantity”, Bora Studio brings a modern simplicity through our products.
