The classes are designed to bring together a dance community versed in classical forms and principles.And, at the same time, the school respects and maintains the integrity of
different dance form, both classical and folk. KATHAK is about footwork,movement,music and storytelling. Kathak comes from the word 'katha' or story.The body becomes an instrument to tell the story.The bells wrapped around the ankles answer to each step and move.Through footwork, one plays with rhythm and music.Hand movements and subtle shifts of weight bring out a balance between grace and sharpness. Kathak is known as a North Indian Classical dance form. NRITYA AAGAN is a strong believer in the arts as creative forms.Classical dance is an art form with a deep,long and passed down history.Our respect for the history lies in a sincere attempt to learn and teach particular styles.The teaching and learning is about each person taking the dance form and making it their own.The idea is to master what has been passed down,understand it,then express oneself through it.This is what it means to maintain the integrity of a dance form.
