Puwa river also termed as Puwamai river/khola is one the 7 tributaries of Mai rivers situated at the eastern district of Nepal, Illam. The Mai Khola is the Kankai River's primary tributary. It is a perennial river that rises 3,300 meters (10,800 feet) above sea level from springs in the Mahabharat Range. The Mai Khola's catchment area is 1,150 square kilometers (440 sq mi) upstream from the Kankai Mai River in Chepte, and it is exclusively within the Ilam District.
The puwa river in the picture flows right through our farm in Bijbanitar, Illam. Being the perennial river, the water flows throughout the year making it one of the major sources of irrigation to our coffee plants in farm and nursery.🌿🌿
