🏔️ PROPOSAL TO HONOUR NIMSDAI: “NIMSDAI ANNAPURNA”

A proposal has been put forward by Annapurna Rural Municipality, Myagdi, to rename Annapurna I in honour of legendary Nepali mountaineer Nirmal “Nimsdai” Purja.

The proposed name is “Nimsdai Annapurna.” The municipality is also planning a statue and museum dedicated to Purja.

Annapurna holds special significance in Nimsdai’s story—it was the first mountain of his historic Project Possible, the journey that saw him complete all 14 of the world’s 8,000-metre peaks in just six months and six days.

A mountain where his historic journey began could now carry his name forever. ❤️🏔️🇳🇵

🇺🇸🕊️ SARAH MALLORY GEIS’ FINAL JOURNEY HOME

The body of American climber Sarah Mallory Geis has been recovered from Broad Peak, 22 days after the deadly July 30 avalanche that claimed 10 lives. Local rescuers brought her remains to Base Camp, where arrangements are being made for onward transport to her family.

Sarah was the last missing victim to be located, leaving only Nepali climber Nawang Thindu Sherpa still on the mountain. Her remains will now begin the journey home to the United States. 🕊️🇺🇸🏔️

🚨🇵🇪 POWERFUL EARTHQUAKE STRIKES SOUTHERN PERU

A powerful earthquake struck Peru’s southern Andes on August 20, with the USGS measuring it at 6.7 magnitude, while Peru’s Geophysical Institute reported 7.2 magnitude.

The quake was strongly felt across several regions, including Ayacucho, Arequipa, Ica, Cusco and Lima. Early assessments reported injuries, damage to homes and public facilities, rockfalls and power outages affecting more than 9,000 customers.

Emergency teams continue assessing the situation, while authorities have confirmed no tsunami threat from the inland earthquake. 🙏🇵🇪

From his service as a **Gurkha and UK Special Forces veteran** to completing all 14 of the world’s 8,000-metre peaks in just **six months and six days**, Nimsdai continually challenged what seemed impossible.
