कसैले आज फेरि मलाई सोध्यो—
“आजको जमानामा युट्युब छ, रील्स छ, टिकटक छ…
थिएटर किन चाहियो?”

मैले खासै ठूलो दर्शन झिकिनँ।
सिधै भनेँ

“युट्युब, रील्स र टिकटकमा
हामी मान्छे हेर्छौँ।
थिएटरमा चाहिँ
मान्छेसँग बस्छौँ।”

उहाँ अलिकति रोकिनुभयो।
मोबाइल हातमै थियो,
तर स्क्रिन हेर्न छोड्नुभयो।

मैले अगाडि भनेँ

“त्यहाँ स्क्रिनले सबै निर्णय गर्छ
कति लामो हेर्ने, कहिले स्किप गर्ने,
के मन पराउने, के फालिदिने।

थिएटरमा चाहिँ
तपाईं बस्नुभयो भने बस्नैपर्छ।
कहिलेकाहीँ बोर हुन्छ,
कहिलेकाहीँ असजिलो लाग्छ,
तर उठेर भाग्न मिल्दैन।”

उहाँ हाँस्नुभयो।

मैले थपेँ

“रील्समा ३० सेकेन्डमा भावना सकिन्छ।
थिएटरमा चाहिँ
कहिलेकाहीँ तीन मिनेटसम्म
के हुँदैछ बुझिँदैन।

तर त्यही समयमा
मान्छेले आफु भित्र
के चलिरहेको छ भन्ने
थाहा पाउन थाल्छ।”

उहाँले मोबाइल झोलामा हाल्नुभयो।

मैले अन्तिममा भनेँ

“थिएटर भनेको
मनोरञ्जनको प्रतिस्पर्धा होइन।
यो युट्युबको विकल्प पनि होइन।

थिएटर त
अझै पनि मानिसलाई
विस्तारै सोच्न सिकाउने
र महसुस गराउने ठाउँ हो ।”

उहाँले टाउको हल्लाउनुभयो र भन्नुभयो

“त्यसो भए त
थिएटर त अहिले झन् काम लाग्दो रहेछ।”

साँच्चै
थिएटरको प्रचार
ठूला कुरा गरेर हुँदैन।
कहिलेकाहीँ
साधारण कुराले नै
मान्छेलाई रोक्छ, सोच्न बाध्य बनाउँछ।

र आजको जमानामा
सोच्न थालेको मान्छे नै
थिएटरको सबैभन्दा ठूलो मूल्य हो।
