Still at cycling phase but few danios has been introduced as lab rats to help us cycle the waterways. 🤞🏼

Build Info:

•Foam board and expandable foam used to structure.

• Mixture of akadama soil, spagnum moss and coco peat underneath moss wall.

•Black scoria topped up with brown custom soil as grow media for terrestrial plants.

Will update you guys in 30 days with plants used if they survive…

Blackwater Aquarium also called Botanical Aquarium.
To many people, blackwater aquarium is unheard of.
The idea behind blackwater aquariums is to simulate the water chemistry of Amazonian blackwater and have physical characteristics of the floodplains. This means the aquarium water needs to be low in minerals and aquascaped with live aquatic plants, aquarium wood and organic matter (leaves) that will decompose.
Over time the aquarium will age, meaning the decomposing plant material will release natural acids and other compounds, causing the water to become tea-colored.
Not all fishes can tolerate this blackwater parameters.

It has been 2 weeks since setup.
Stocked with a pair of Cherry Shrimp and Scarlet gem badis.
Pretty much depending upon emersed plants and floating plants to filter the water.
Using DIY liquid fertilizer every alternative day.
Water change once on every 3 days.
No Filter and CO2
