गुरुङ (तमु)
गुरुङ अर्थात् 'तमु', पश्चिमी नेपालको अन्नपुर्ण, मनास्लु, र गणेश हिमाल पर्वत श्रृंखला को फेदी मा बस्ने नेपाल को १२५ विभिन्न जातीय समुदायहरु मध्ये एक हुन्। उनीहरु मध्य थोरै संख्या नेपालको अन्य क्षेत्रहरु र भारत को पश्चिम बंगाल राज्यमा पनि बसोबास गर्दछन्।
गुरुङ (तमु) हरु विशेष गरि बोन धर्मालम्बि (प्रकृति पुजक र पितृ पुजक ) हुन् र उनीहरुको धर्म शास्त्रलाई "प्येताँ ल्हुताँ " भनिन्छ। यी बाहेक बुद्ध र केहि मात्रामा हिन्दु धर्मको प्रभाव पनि देख्न सकिन्छ। त्यसै गरि गुरुङहरुको मातृभाषालाई तमु क्ये/क्यी भनिन्छ।
गुरुङहरुको उत्पति कहाँ भयो र कताबाट आयो भन्ने कुरामा विभिन्न किंवदन्तीहरू प्रचलित छन। केहिले भन्छन गुरुङहरु बर्मा हुदै अस्सम र त्यसपछि पूर्वी नेपाल हुदै वर्तमान वस्तीहरुमा आइपुगे, जहाँ उनीहरु सात सय बर्ष भन्दा बढि समय देखि बस्दै आएका छन्। अन्य किंवदन्तीहरु अनुसार गुरुङहरु डुलिरहने गोठालाहरु थिए जो भोट(तिब्बत) बाट मुस्ताङ हुदै अन्नपुर्ण आसपासमा आएर बसोबास गरे।
गुरुङहरुको पछिल्लो समयमा डि एन ए को नमुना संकलन गरेर विस्तृत अनुसन्धान टेक बहादुर गुरुङ ज्युले गर्नु भएको थियो। उहाँको अनुसन्धानको निष्कर्ष अनुसार, गुरुङहरु मुस्ताङ क्षेत्रमा तिब्बतबाट ३००० वर्ष र क्होला सोथरमा २५०० वर्ष अगाडी नै आइसकेको थियो।
Gurung (Tamu)
The Gurung, also called ‘Tamu’ in their native language, are one of the 125 various ethnic communities of Nepal living dominantly in the foothills of Annapurna, Manaslu, and Ganesh Himal ranges of Western Nepal. A few numbers of them live in the other regions of Nepal and in the West Bengal state of India as well.
Gurungs (Tamu) are the followers of the Bon religion which includes Nature worshipping, Animism, and Shamanism. Their religious texts are called "Pyetan Lhutan". Apart from these, the influence of Buddha and to some extent Hinduism can also be seen. Similarly, the native language of the Gurungs is called "Tamu Kye/Kyi".
There are various legends about where the Gurungs originated and where they came from. Some say that the Gurungs came to the present settlements via Burma, Assam, and then Eastern Nepal, where they have been living for more than seven hundred years. According to other legends, the Gurungs were wandering shepherds who came to Mustang from Tibet and settled around Annapurna.
Recently, detailed research was done by Tek Bahadur Gurung by collecting a sample of DNA as well. According to the findings of his research, the Gurungs came to the Mustang region from Tibet 3,000 years ago and to the Kwhola Sothar region 2,500 years ago.
