IN A WORLD RIDDEN WITH HATE AND HOSTILITY, SADNESS AND SORROW, YOU SEEM TO BE THE LONELY BARD OF LOVE AND LAUGHTER.
IS THIS NOT HILARIOUS?
It is.
Maitreya, it is hilarious, but somebody has to begin it.
We want the world to be less serious and more sensitive. Sincere of course, but serious never.
We want the world to learn that the sense of humor is one of the most fundamental qualities of a religious man.
If you cannot laugh, you will miss many things in life, you will miss many mysteries.
Your laughter makes you a small innocent child, your laughter joins you with existence -- with the roaring ocean, with the stars and their silence.
Your laughter makes you the lonely part of the world which has become intelligent, because only intelligent people can laugh. That's why animals cannot afford to laugh -- they don't have that much intelligence.
You can try -- you can tell a joke to your buffalo and see what happens.
And because seriousness has always been taught to be almost necessary for respectability, it has made everybody serious. It is not that they are serious for any reason, but it has now become their second nature; they have forgotten completely that seriousness is a sickness, it means the sense of humor is dead in you.
Otherwise, the whole of life all around is so full of hilarious things.
If you have a sense of humour, you will be surprised that there is no time to be sad -- every moment something or other is happening everywhere.
My mission certainly is to bring laughter to the whole of humanity -- which has forgotten it. And when you forget laughter, you always forget songs, you forget love, you forget dance -- it is not that you only forget laughter. Laughter has its own combination of qualities, just as seriousness has its own combination of qualities.
Forget laughter and you will forget love.
With a sad face, how to say to a woman "I love you"? You will have to smile a little bit.
With a serious face you cannot say even the smallest thing.
People are taking everything so seriously that it becomes a burden on them.
Learn to laugh more.
To me, laughter is as sacred as prayer.

A statue more important than Shivlinga has never been discovered on earth. He hides the full size of your soul. And the energy of your soul can rotate in a circle, it's also hidden. And the day your energy revolves within you and dissolves in you, that day there is no loss of power and joy available. And then the more power is collected, the more joy increases.
We have made the statue of Shankar, the statue of Shiva as Ardhanarishwar. Half of Shankar's statue is of male and half is of female- this is a unique incident. Those who want to know the ultimate mystery of life, they will have to understand the personality of Shiva properly. And we have called the gods, Shiva is called Mahadev. We kept nobody higher than them. There are some reasons for that. In their imagination we have hidden the essence and keys of life.
The meaning of Ardhanarishwar is that the day the paramour incident starts, your half personality becomes your wife and your own half personality becomes your husband. Half of your energy becomes female and half your male. And the juice and the linta that grows within these two, then there is no immersion of power.
If you ask a biologist today, they say- every person is both, bi-sexual. She is half male, half female. Should be, because you are born from the union of a woman and a man. So half-half must be you. If you were born only from a mother, you would be a woman. If born only from father, then there would be men. But fifty percent of you your father and fifty percent your mother is present. You can neither be a man nor a woman - you are a half-dharishwar.
Biology has discovered now, but we established this concept fifty thousand years ago in the statue of Ardhanarishwar. This is based on Yogi's experience we searched. Because when the Yogi leans within himself, he finds that I am both. And in me both are mixing. My man is leaning in my nature; my nature is meeting my man. And their embrace continues unstoppable; a circle is complete. Even psychologists say you're half male and half female. Your conscious is a man, your unconscious is a woman. And if your conscious is of a woman, then your unconscious is a man. There's a combination between them both

सदगुरु के चरणाें में बैठने के लिए हमने एक शब्द का उपयोग किया है: उपनिषद। उपनिषद का अर्थ होता है गुरु के चरणाें में बैठना। न तो पूछना, न जिज्ञासा करना। लेकिन बैठे -बैठे पिघलते जाना, शून्य होते जाना।

सत्‍संग को पूरब में बहुत मूल्‍य दिया है। पश्चिम की भाषाओं में सत्‍संग के लिए कोई ठीक-ठीक शब्‍द नहीं है। क्‍योंकि सत्‍संग का कोई मूल्‍य पश्‍चिम में समझा नहीं गया।

सत्‍संग का अर्थ इतना ही है। जिसने जान लिया हो, उसके पास बैठ कर स्‍वाद संक्रामक हो जाता है। जिसने जान लिया हो, उसकी तरंगों में डुबकर भीतर की सोई हुई विस्‍मृत तरंगें सक्रिय होने लगती है, कंपन आने लगता है। सत्‍संग का इतना ही अर्थ है कि है जो तुमसे आगे जा चुका हो, उसे आगे गया हुआ देखकर तुम्‍हारे भीतर चुनौती उठती है: तुम्‍हें भी जाना है। रूकना फिर मुश्‍किल हो जाता है।

सत्‍संग का अर्थ गुरु के वचन सुनने से उतना नही है। जितनी गुरु की मौजूदगी पीने से है, जितना गुरु को अपने भीतर आने देने, जितना गुरु के साथ एक लय में बद्ध हाँ जाने से है।

गुरु एक विशिष्‍ट तरंग में जी रहा है। तुम जब गुरु के पास होते हो तब उसकी तरंगें, तुम्‍हारे भीतर भी वैसी ही तरंगों को पैदा करती है। तुम भी थोड़ी देर को ही सही, किसी और लोक में प्रवेश कर जाते हो। गेस्‍टाल्‍ट बदलता है। तुम्‍हारे देखने का ढांचा बदलता हे। थोड़ी देर को तुम गुरु की आंखों से देखने लगते हो, गुरु के कान से सुनने लगते हो।

Sadhguru: When we say “satsang,” we are not talking about a yoga club, an association or any other kind of meeting place. “Sat” means “truth,” “sang” means “to be in communion with that.” What is needed to be in communion with truth?

What we are referring to as “truth” is that which makes everything here work. Something is spinning the planet, something is making your heart beat, something is making the whole cosmos work. That is truth. You don’t have to go to the core of the galaxy to be in touch with this. The core of yourself is also the same thing. Then why is it that we are not constantly in touch with it? Why do we have to come to a certain space or presence to even feel that? This is because the mind, which should be a mirror to show life with absolute clarity, is functioning in prejudice.
Instruments of Prejudice

Whatever kind of mind one has, it is a certain kind of prejudice. You may think you are broadminded, but that just means you have a broad prejudice because the mind cannot function without identification. The moment you are identified with something, the mind becomes prejudiced. Some people are very rigid about their prejudices, others are a little flexible, but there is a prejudice. If you say “I am a man,” you have a masculine prejudice. If you say “I am a woman,” you have a feminine prejudice. If you say “I am Indian,” you have an Indian prejudice. Every single thought, emotion and action that human beings commit is coming from this variety of prejudices.

The problem with humanity is that prejudice has established itself in so many ways and is being celebrated. Prejudices have become so concretized that people think looking beyond that is sacrilege. Once you have identified yourself with something, you cannot think, feel or act beyond it. Everything will be within that ambit. And the greatest problem is you will think you are perfectly right.



A satsang is not about just trying to wipe out one line of prejudice. We want to stay beyond the instrument that manufactures prejudice. You keep all the prejudices down – you are not identified as a man, a woman or anything for that matter. You don’t pay attention to your body, mind, thoughts, emotions – nothing. The mind is going on, the body is saying “This hurts; I want to go to the bathroom,” but you simply sit – like a sack, but alert.
Satsang means ultimate life sense. To be in communion with this ultimate life sense is of utmost significance to your existence.

You may think many things about yourself, but after all, your body is just a sack of soil. If you put it into the earth, it becomes soil once again in no time. So if you simply let the body sit there and maintain your alertness, the rest will happen. Nothing else needs to be done. A spiritual process is not something that you do. If you just keep your body and mind aside, you are spiritual. If you take attention away from body and mind and just keep yourself alert, something else comes into your perception. The more importance you give to your body and mind, the more prejudiced you become because the very nature of body and mind is prejudice. For example, let’s say an automobile is coming at you, the body will want to escape. At that moment, only this body is its interest, not the other bodies. But suppose you have fallen in love with someone, you will dive to save that body.

Love is made so important in the spiritual process because it helps you cross the line of prejudice – which is so rigid and concretized that you usually never break it – and act in irrational ways. It is these irrational ways that make your life beautiful. Knowing this, somewhere deep inside, you keep a little bit of your life irrational and sensible. Everything else is analyzed, rational and utterly life-stupid. There is a lot of smartness and social sense in it, but there is no life sense in it.
When the Creator is Your Friend

Satsang means ultimate life sense. To be in communion with this ultimate life sense is of utmost significance to your existence. Isn’t the source of life within you of utmost significance? But if you look at your life, your teeth get attention first thing in the morning; your body gets attention, your nails get lots of attention, and your hair gets two hours of attention. But how much attention does that which is the source of your life get in a day?

If the creator within you turns against you, you are finished. But people are trying to live without paying any attention to that, hoping everything will be okay. Life does not work like that. If you do not pay sufficient attention to it, it will begin to take its toll. When the burden becomes unmanageable, people think, “Oh, I want to die…” But if you kept the core of creation or the creator as your friend, whether you hang around this earth for a thousand years or leave the next morning is no big deal. That is how life should be.



It is so simple, but it takes so much pain and suffering for people to realize this. Does something have to go drastically wrong with your life before you do the right things with yourself? You must do the right things when everything is right with your life. If you wait for things to go horribly wrong, then, even if you intend to do something, your body or mind may not have the strength, or situations around you may not cooperate. Unfortunately, most individuals and humanity as a whole are handling situations this way.

Look at the whole issue of climate change. Does it take enormous scientific knowledge or any great understanding about the planet to see that we are on a disastrous path? The way we are handling the earth, any fool can see things will go wrong. But we see it only when something goes horribly wrong.
Stacking the Odds in Your Favor

If you remain in satsang, you will do what is sensible before things go wrong with life – before it is too late. If the core of your existence becomes a part of your day-to-day life, not in imagination or belief, but as a living thing, the odds are very different for you.

Once, Shankaran Pillai went to the bar with his pet parrot. With great effort, he had taught this parrot to repeat the whole second chapter of the Bhagavad Gita verbatim. So he ordered a few drinks and with a loud voice said, “Is anybody in for a wager? My parrot can repeat the second chapter of the Gita for all of you.” The whole crowd in the bar said, “Boooooo, you’ve had too many.”

Shankaran Pillai said, “Whatever you guys offer, I’ll pay back twice if my parrot fails.” He was confident about the parrot’s capabilities. Everyone knew this was easy money, so they pulled out whatever they had and put the money on the counter. All counted, it amounted to 54,000 rupees. If the parrot speaks the Gita, he gets it; otherwise he has to pay 108,000 rupees. Then Shankaran Pillai told the parrot, “Come on, Kiki.” The parrot simply said “kik kik.” Shankaran Pillai said, “Come on Kiki, the Gita. Go!” The parrot squeaked “kik, kik.” Whatever he did, the parrot did not say anything more than “kik, kik.” People just laughed and Shankaran Pillai had to pull out his cheque book and write a cheque for 108,000 rupees.

When he came home, he yelled in fury, “You idiot! Why didn’t you speak? For so many months I trained you, why didn’t you speak?” The parrot just said, “Can you imagine the odds tomorrow?”

If you keep your mouth shut for five minutes, you can’t imagine the odds tomorrow. That is what satsang means.

पहला प्रश्न : सत्संग क्या है? सत्संग की महिमा क्या है?

ओशो: मैं यहाँ हूँ, तुम यहाँ हो, दोनों के बीच कोई बाधा नहीं, अवरोध नहीं, यही सत्संग है। विवाद नहीं, संवाद है, यही सत्संग है। एक शून्य यहाँ, एक शून्य वहाँ, दो शून्यों का मिलन सत्संग है। एक दीया यहाँ, एक दीया वहाँ, दो दीयों का साथ— साथ जल उठना सत्संग है।

सत्संग भाव की एक दशा है। विचार की नहीं। सत्संग हृदय का खुला होना है, जैसे सुबह कमल खिल जाए सूरज के लिए। सूरज और कमल के बीच सत्संग है—सूरज दे रहा है बेशर्त, कमल ले रहा है बेशर्त। न देने में कोई संकोच है, न लेने में कोई संकोच है। न देने वाला कृपण है देने में, न लेने वाला कृपण है लेने में। न देने वाला है, न लेने वाला है, दोनों तरफ सन्नाटा है, निर—अहंकार भाव है, वही सत्संग है। ये सुबह के चुपचाप खड़े वृक्ष, ये सूरज की बरसती हुई किरणें, यह पक्षियों का कलरव, यह चुपचाप तुम्हारा यहाँ बैठे होना, जब भी तुम्हारे भीतर विचार की धारा बंद हो जाती है, तभी सत्संग हो जाता है।

मैं शून्य हूँ, जब तुम विचार से भरे होते हो, तुम मुझसे दूर होते हो। शून्य के पास आने का उपाय शून्य होना ही है। समान ही समान के पास आ सकेगा। तुम जब विचार से भरे हो, तुम बहुत दूर हो। चाँद—तारों पर कहीं, यहाँ नहीं। कहीं और, कहीं और। हजार स्थान होने के हो सकते हैं। मगर जरा—सी विचार की तरंग उठी कि तुम यहाँ नहीं हो, एक बात सुनिश्चित है। कहीं और होओगे। सत्संग टूट गया। धागा टूट गया। सेतु न रहा। हम दो अलग दुनियाओं में हो गये। हमारे बीच कोई संबंध न रहा। विचार गया—एक क्षण को भी चला जाए— निर्विचार सघन हुआ, तुम सिर्फ मौन वहाँ बैठे रहे, खुले, उन्मुक्त, स्वागत करते, जरा—भी तुमने अवरोध न दिया, जरा—भी तुमने बाधा खड़ी न की, मैं—भाव निर्मित न हुआ—एक क्षण का अंतराल' काफी है—वही सत्संग घट जाता है। और एक क्षण का सत्संग इतना दें जाता है, जितना विचार का एक पूरा जीवन भी न दे सकेगा। अनंत—अनंत जीवन न दे सकेगे जो, एक क्षण का सत्संग दे जाता है।

पर सत्संग कभी—कभी घटता है। इसलिए मैं रोज बोले जाता हूँ। आज नहीं, घटेगा कल घटेगा, कल नहीं परसों घटेगा कौन जाने किस घड़ी में घट जाए? कौन जाने कौन—सा शब्द चोट कर जाए? कौन जाने किस भावदशा में तुम खुल जाओ—तुम्हारा कमल खुले और तुम सूरज को पी लो? एक बार सत्संग लग जाए, एक बार जोड़ बैठ जाए, फिर तो बार—बार बैठने लगता है। एक बार समझ आ जाए, स्वाद आ जाए, फिर तो बार—बार लेने में अड़चन नहीं रह जाती, क्योंकि सूत्र तुम्हारे हाथ आ गया। गणित पर तुम्हारी पकड़ हो गयी। फिर तो तुम चुपचाप अपने भीतर उस भावदशा को कभी भी बुला ले सकते हो। फिर यहाँ बैठने की भी जरूरत नहीं है, तुम दूर हो कहीं, तो भी सत्संग बन सकता है। ऐसा सत्संग बन सके इसीलिए संन्यास का आयोजन किया है। तुम दूर रह कर भी जुड़ सको, यही संन्यास के पीछे सूत्र है। तुम दूर रह कर भी मेरे पास हो सको।

ख्याल रखना, पास होकर भी कोई दूर हो सकता है। यहाँ कोई बैठा हो हजार विचारों से भरा हुआ, सोचता हो, विवाद करता हो, तर्क करता हो, संदेह करता हो, अपने पक्षपात, अपनी धारणाएँ बीच में लाता हो, तो दूर है। और कहीं दूर, हजारों कोसों दूर, सात समंदर पार तुम बैठे चुपचाप और तुम निर्विचार हुए और तुमने कोई तरंग न उठायी, तुम निस्तरंग हुए, तुम्हारी भीतर की अंतर्ज्योति कँपी नहीं, ठहर गयी, उसी क्षण सत्संग हो जाएगा। दूरी मिटी, समय मिटा, काल मिटा, फासले मिटे, तत्क्षण तुम करीब आ गये। सत्संग करीब आने की कला है। दूर रह कर भी करीब आने की कला है। बिना छुए छूने की कला है। सत्संग एक बड़ी कीमिया है। इसलिए उसकी बहुत महिमा गायी गयी है।

गुरु के पास तो हम पाठ सीखते सत्संग का, फिर सत्संग तो परमात्मा से ही होना है। एक बार राज हाथ में आ जाए, फिर तो तुम कभी भी खुल जाओ, कहीं भी खुल जाओ—खुलने का साहस आ जाए और यह समझ में आ जाए कि खुलने से कुछ खोता नहीं, खुलने से मिलता है, बंद रहने से खोता है— यह महत्वपूर्ण नियम तुम्हारी सूझ—बूझ में प्रविष्ट हो जाए कि विचार से कुछ मिलता नहीं, विचार नपुंसक हैं, निर्विचार से मिलता है, निर्विचार संपदा है; विचार भिखारी हैं, निर्विचार सम्राट है, ऐसी तुम्हें प्रतीति हो जाए— गुरु के पास बैठना बस इस प्रतीति के लिए है— एक बार यह प्रतीति हो गयी, तो जब गुरु के पास खुलने से इतना मिल जाता है, तो परम के लिए खुलना, सर्व के लिए खुलना, सारे आकाश के लिए खुलना, फिर कितना न मिलेगा। फिर संपदा—ही—संपदा है। फिर कभी कोई दीनता नहीं है। फिर कोई दुख नहीं, फिर कोई दारिद्रय नहीं। फिर तुम सम्राट हो, फिर तुम स्वामी हो।"

हिन्दी के शब्द 'भगवॉन' कॉ बहुत गहन अर्थ है। इसकॉ अर्थ अंग्रेज़ी के शब्द गॉड से नहीं है।

वह जो अस्तित्व के पॉच तत्वों से मिल कर बनॉ है। इस तरह जिस व्यक्ति ने अपने अन्दर इन पॉच तत्वों कॉ आत्मसात कर लिया उसे भगवॉन की संज्ञॉ दी जॉ सकती है।
भगवॉन शब्द चॉर अक्षर और एकमात्रॉ से मिल कर बनते है।
भ - यह भूमि तत्व है
ग- यह गगन यॉ आकाश तत्व है
व- यह वॉयु तत्व है
ा- यह एक मात्रॉ है अग्नि तत्व है
न- यह अस्तित्व के नीर यानी जल तत्व है
इस प्रकार भगवॉन वह है जिसने धयॉन व सॉधनॉ से इन पॉचो तत्वों के गुणों को अपने अन्दर आत्मसात कियॉ है।
