Hvil i fred, kjære kong Harald ❤️

En varm, raus og humørfylt monark er gått bort. Kong Harald levde som han talte. Han forstod at en nasjon er så mye mer enn landegrenser, fjell og fjorder. Det er folk i alle aldre, med ulike kjønn, religioner og legninger. Kongen vår inkluderte og lyttet til alle de menneskene som utgjør landet vårt.

På vegne av alle menneskene på PoMo, takk. Vi lyser fred over Kong Harald Vs minne.

Congratulations to Catherine Opie and the National Galleries of Scotland with the opening of the exhibition “Catherine Opie: To Be Seen” at the Royal Scottish Academy this weekend!
 
Touring to Edinburgh from the National Portrait Gallery in London, the exhibition retraces the unique career of Opie within portraiture, together with works from Scotland’s national collection.
 
Central to the exhibition, and chosen as the main image for communication, we find Opie’s portrait of Divinity Fudge, the prominent Los Angeles-based drag queen and performance artist. This work is also present in the PoMo Collection, and will be on show in the new presentation of our collection on the museum’s second floor this autumn.
 
Remember that our own exhibition “Catherine Opie – Mountains Don’t Know Their Names” is currently on display, following the artist’s chase of the blue light in the Norwegian mountains in 2024.

Central in the exhibition, you will find the Fjord and Ceramic Mountains room.

In this room, Catherine Opie presents us with 5 photographic portraits of Norway’s most recognisable trademarks: the fjords. Leaving mountains and fjords standing alone in the blue light, Opie gives us the untouched reality of the Scandinavian landscape and raw nature.

Those are put in a direct dialogue with a series of 30 ceramic mountains. Working with sculpture for the first time in her career, Opie created the mountains in two stages: in 2023 she made them based on “the mountains I wanted to meet”, and in 2025 she shaped “the ideas of the mountains that I met”.

An organic expression of the encounter between artist and mountain, this room gives us a unique insight into Opie’s creative process.

Det nærmer seg Dobbel utstillingsåpning på PoMo – Gratis inngang! og vi er så klare🤩 Kunstneren, Catherine Opie, er selv tilstede for å gi en introduksjon til utstillingen Mountains Don't Know Their Names, og Kristoffer Lo spiller musikk spesiallaget for anledningen. Det er virkelig bare å glede seg!
