Led by Mazlum Karataş, Mosaicpotamia explores the rich musical traditions of Mesopotamia through live electronics, sampling, storytelling and improvisation. Together with pianist and songwriter Stine Maren Steien, the project creates a unique meeting between Kurdish and Mesopotamian musical heritage and the folk traditions of Northern Norway.
Atmospheric, meditative and deeply personal, this is music where landscapes, histories and identities intertwine.

Silent Cinema Reawakened

A nearly 100-year-old silent film becomes startlingly alive through ZÖJ’s haunting live score.
GRASS: A Nation’s Battle for Life (1925) follows the epic migration of the Bakhtiari people across the mountains of Iran — one of the great masterpieces of early documentary cinema. Performed live, ZÖJ transforms the film into something immediate, physical and emotionally overwhelming through kamancheh, voice and ritualistic percussion.
Not just a screening. A total immersive experience where cinema and sound become one.
This event is in collaboration with Tromsø Film Club and Tromsø International Film Festival.

Sol Band ble startet i Gaza i 2012 og forener palestinske og arabiske musikktradisjoner med moderne pop, rock og verdensmusikk. Etter å ha mistet både hjem og studio lever medlemmene nå i eksil i Europa, men musikken deres fortsetter å gi stemme til håp, motstandskraft og menneskelighet.

Konserten er en del av markeringen av **25 år med Tromsø–Gaza vennskapsbyer**, og byr på en kveld med sterke melodier, varme rytmer og musikk som berører.

ZÖJ does not sound like anyone else.
Iranian-Australian artist Gelareh Pour and percussionist Brian O’Dwyer create hypnotic, emotionally overwhelming music where Persian poetry, kamancheh, voice and ritualistic percussion collide in raw real-time improvisation.
Their concerts feel physical and deeply cinematic — balancing silence, tension and explosive emotional release with astonishing precision. At moments it feels ancient. At others, completely futuristic.
This is not background music. This is total immersion.
