A nation needs more than laws, governments and elections.

It also needs symbols.
Continuity.

A familiar voice in moments of joy, grief and uncertainty.

King Harald was one of those rare figures who could speak to almost everyone without needing to stand against anyone.

Today we lost a steady voice, a warm presence, and one of the few figures who truly belonged to all of us.

Norway feels a little quieter tonight.
Rest in peace, Your Majesty.

Some think rave performers are there to entertain the crowd.
A amusing little novelty side kick to the o'big headliner DJ.

But I don’t think that’s what we performers are doing at all.
The best of us aren’t standing outside the experience, putting on a show.
They’re inside it.

Completely immersed in the same music.
The same energy.
The same collective moment.

The crowd doesn’t just see an artist.
They see and experience a physical manifestation of what they’re already feeling inside themselves.

A living amplifier and conduit for the energy they feel on the dancefloor.

That’s why performance adds a dimension that so many events are missing today.

Because it’s never really about the DJ.
And it’s not about the performer either.

It’s about the people.

About hundreds or thousands of strangers sharing the same moment, the same rhythm, the same emotion.

The performer is simply a mirror, a tangible entity that gives that energy a face, and then it gets fed straight back into the crowd driving us all into a frenzy.
