Rest is not a pause between efforts, it is a question, and a practice that has to be rehearsed. In what is called “the age of performance,” everything, including rest, risks being folded back into productivity, recharged for more work, returned to the circuit. Rest from what, exactly?
From which forces? And with whom, and for what reasons, and to which effects?

Dear restless creatures ~

This year you are invited to a three day deep dive into a variety if different performative and approaches to think about and be with rest. A workshop led by .asencio and !

What are we resting from? What do we rest in, against, among, alongside or with?

“The question is what rest even means now—in what is called “the age of performance”, where everything, including rest, gets folded back into productivity. So the project is really asking: what would it mean to rest in a way that doesn’t simply recharge you for more work? What do we need to rehearse, together, to find other ways of being with each other and with time? And also—rest from what, exactly? From which forces? “

In this moment we want to invite you to a shared space for communal practices. We will use dancing, reading and creating a collective library to investigate these questions. In a joyful act of overlapping artistic practices. How can we rehearse forms of disengagement from everything that, in our daily forms of living and relating, working and instituting, continues to reinstate cycles of violence, oppression, exhaustion?

Welcome to this communal study session filled with books, dancing, accomplices, readings and (mis)interpretations. Finding ways of being together, of being with, without the world’s constant demand to fixate everything.

Delving into the texts and universe of the Iranian poet Forough Farrokhzadفروغ فرخزاد . We have made this site specific performance in just two weeks.

New music and lyrics based on Forough Farrokhzad’s poetry were written for the performance and is performed live by and .kylen.collins, and .l.pedersen

. . : : . Unfortunately we now realize that it will not be possible to go through with Scene:Bluss Bedbug Edition this June. We feel very sorry, but after going through different options, paying close attention to prognoses, we think that the best solution is to postpone Bedbug edition utill next year. To all of you who already applied; thank you so much, it’s always a pleasure to read about you and your work. We will be in touch!
