Winter White WCS

Winter White WCS It's all about growing, enjoying life and cherishing the moments of pure happiness on the dance floor.

People LOVE Winter White because it is warm, cozy, personal, beautifully organized, inclusive, and full of heart — with top-level workshops and an unforgettable vibe. This event is all about love – made with love and for the love of dance and our community WW is where we get cozy, diving deep into the dance and ourselves, celebrating the joy of dance connection that brings us even closer. WW is le

gendary for its epic social dancing, where you can let go of competition pressure (because it´s so chill) and immerse yourself in the joy of learning. We love collaborating with professionals who have a genuine passion for sharing their knowledge and expertise, both on and off the dance floor. Our priority is to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where everyone feels equal and valued. There's no room for comparison between levels because each individual's journey and growth are unique and celebrated. Together, we aim to foster a supportive community where everyone can thrive and share in the joy of dance. WW is a place where magic happens, and you create memories that stay with you forever.

Events always talk about what worked. We don't see enough posts about what didn't.
So here are interesting facts #7,8,9 including a few things we tried that just... ✨didn't land✨😅

1. The Bus Party
Norway has these "russ buses" — party buses normally used for graduation celebrations. We thought: why not take our pro staff and 60 dancers on trip to Oslo, hit the Christmas market, and party the whole way there? Turns out everyone was too tired to party. Most of the bus just sat quietly. 😴

2. The Facepaint
We hired a genuinely incredible face paint artist. Too good, actually — her work was so detailed that in 4 hours she'd only managed to paint the teaching staff and a handful of lucky participants. Beautiful art, but not exactly built for a room full of people.

3. The Masquerade
Scheduled at the same time as the facepaint, the idea was: if you didn't get painted, wear a mask instead. Except... nobody wanted to hide their face on the dance floor. 💀 A fail we're not repeating again.

We love trying new things because creativity is fun — but not everything sticks the landing, and we think that's worth sharing too. 🤔Curious if you experienced any super specials that landed well and completely didn´t land well at an event?

OH and as always ... we are also bringing something very new and unique at Winter White this year ❤️ WE CAN´T WAIT to announce all the details of the schedule later this fall!

Interesting fact #5 — ✨ in the past, you could win Gucci sunglasses at Winter White! ✨

It’s no secret that events give away valuable prizes for top placements in comps, but back in the day Winter White had a very unique way of doing it.

The prizes were packed into boxes, wrapped up, and stacked together. Inside you could find high-end sunglasses from brands like Gucci or Versace (sometimes even with cash tucked inside 😎)! Ardena had a connection at a luxury sunglasses shop and was able to get them at a very good price. And one year we even had handmade jewellery created and donated by Jennifer DeLuca.

The best part was that winners didn’t know what they were getting — they simply picked a box blindly and received a random prize 🎁

These days, we’re a bit more classic with our rewards! We like to highlight more great dancers, so the top 5 couples receive vouchers, event passes, money, or merch.

But this tradition was fun! Would you like us to bring it back? 😜

Besides the classic JnJ and Strictly nominations, at Winter White we have one unique nomination called Avalanche.
And here comes interesting fact #4:
✨Avalanche JnJ started as a classic ProAm✨

At Winter White 2014, we first started with ProAm Jack and Jill with international pros. Over the years, we realised that very few people were able to connect with the pros who were coming, so ProAm concept was changed to Swing 16, which was an all-American concept invented by Douglas Rosuar. The idea was simple — all divisions danced together on one dance floor, and then the top 16 couples moved forward and competed against each other until the winning couple was decided.

We basically just love the idea of no separation between levels and want everyone to dance with everyone! It worked really well, and over time we wanted to bring in the winter theme, so we added thematic music and a dress code, and that’s how it turned into Avalanche JnJ. The concept of 16 couples was dropped, and now it’s just a fun, all-level competition with a thematic dress code! And since everyone already has hats and gloves, you don’t even need to pack extra stuff to match our theme, which makes travelling easy and compact!

But we still love and adore it when people go above and beyond simplicity and bring crazy cool costumes! Proofs are on photos! 😜

So if you want to dress up, dance with all levels on the same dance floor, and have an absolutely fun time, you can join our Avalanche nomination — and believe us, you’ll have a blast! 🩵

One more thing that makes Winter White famous is our gratitude wall with envelopes! 💙

If you’ve never been to Winter White, it’s good for you to know that every year we make envelopes with every attendee’s name and put them on the gratitude wall. So whenever you want to share a little bit of love with somebody, you can come to the wall, find their envelope and leave a cute message for them to discover after the event!

We love this tradition deeply cuz it helps us carry that warm feeling from the event weekend for much longer.

But here comes interesting fact #3 - this tradition wasn’t created by us… ✨It was stolen.✨

Well, not exactly stolen - more like borrowed. Like many good ideas 😄

Ardena came across it at another event, during a weekend that was emotionally tough for her. But going home with a stack of kind, heartfelt messages from her students completely turned things around - and she knew right away she had to bring this to Winter White!

We’re actually happy to see more and more events picking up this lovely tradition and creating an environment where people can share love, kindness and gratitude . That’s exactly what we want to share too 💙

Let’s continue our little trip through Winter White history 💙

And here is fact #2 (probably the most famous one):

✨ After JnJ competitions, we eat Norwegian waffles! ✨

Yessss, this is one of our favourite traditions, and it has been with us for many years!

On Saturday evening after PRO show we make 600 waffles so all attendees can get a classic Norwegian treat. The waffle tradition has already spread far beyond the event walls – people know about it, prepare for the queue (because yes, it can be a bit crazy 😄), and last year we even made special Waffle Club merch.

But how did it actually start?

Waffles with brown cheese and jam is very Norwegian thing. And Ardena, being Albanian, simply loves feeding people, because that’s what they do! It’s their love language🫶

So these two things came together, and that’s how the tradition was born!

Waffles have been part of almost every event Ardena has organised, and they have always been free. It’s just our little way of showing care, warmth, and hospitality. And honestly – who would say no to something sweet after a long and stressful competition day? 😊🧇

Those of you who have tried Norwegian waffles at least once – please confirm in the comments that they’re amazing 😄
